Isn't it obvious? Jerry loves his red-headed son Jason and would never hurt his feeling by firing him in the middle of the season! Too bad Jerry doesn't understand firing Garrett would have been the best thing for the team and the fans. If Meyer comes in as the head coach I really hope Jerry gives him the opportunity to hire his own coaching staff!

Jerry wants his favorite son to finish his final season and he wants to wave to Jason as he leaves for New York in the sunset.

Nah but seriously, I think it has to do with the Rooney Rule. Jerry will probably just interview Kris Richard to get it out of the way.

I would literally hire Urban and say that Richard was interviewing all season and failed. lol. Youd think a sales person like Jerry could figure that out.

Get real! No team has ever fired their head coach this late in the season and brought someone in outside the organization to take over. You can’t just bring someone in, introduce them to the players and have them start coaching the team with only three games left. Some of you should try stand-up comedy for a living.

Seriously?

What’s the worst that can happen?
He can't.
The Rooney rule requires that a black candidate be interviewed before any head coach can be signed on.
So it's a two week process, at least.

He'd say no
I’m not sure he’s who jerry wants but if I was him I wouldn’t take it now either
I would want the off season to put together my staff and camp to implement my systems

Jerry demands more off season attention than that
There’s your answer. Jerry prefers mugging for a one hour press conference during Super Bowl week to announce his latest (victim) head coach than addressing a problem now. His mind thinks more like a TV executive than an NFL GM.

I’m sure Urban Meyer does NOT want to be micromanaged. He’s known to be a very strong willed and independent thinker. He’s clashed occasionally with university presidents and Athletic directors. I honestly can’t see a coach with the independence and accomplishments of Meyer wanting to join this dysfunctional circus centered 100% on a 77 year old egomaniac.

A new HC doesn't have time to implement anything different at this point. Players do not learn alot of new techniques during the season. They learn in the offseason where they are away from the team so they aren't limited to how much they can practice.

A chaotic transition that sinks the tiny chance of the team regrouping for the playoffs, that starts Meyer off with the players looking unprepared or out of his league.

I haven't looked it up but the vast majority of the times a HC is replaced during the season his replacement is someone on the current staff who knows the system that is in place already. Has Meyer even seen our playbooks?
