Are Adam's and Thornhill great safety's now? Adam's is a good "in the box" safety who tackles wll but based on his draft position 2 ints in almost 3 seasons, and repeated rumors of them wanting to move him indicate border line bust.... they could have got the same thing in Von Bell in the 2nd. Thornhill has had some nice plays and looks like he should be really good but has been torched on occasion. If talking about a young safety who is emerging as being great I'd look at Marcus Williams... he now has 10 ints in just under 3 seasons and according to the Saints radio crew they won't be able to keep him after next season if they keep Bell!Safety. Our CB's could be good if they learned to play the ball honestly. Awuzie and Brown were attacked constantly and could have plenty of interceptions if they play the ball. That is changed with coaching. They have potential to be good CB's.
Our safeties are just backups at best. We need new ones. I see no potential from Woods or Heath to grow into a great safety like Jamal Adams or Thornhill.

Eh, Adam's gives me visions of a Roy Williams redo except with a huge contract! They’re 10x than anything we have here in Dallas!

That's because a box safety is irrelevant in the NFL. You can either cover, or you don't matter.Adams had been getting shuffled around the secondary like Byron was, leading to him wanting to be moved. It seems the staff has finally realized hes best a ss in their system, after trying to force him into fs.

If we are talking about DB impact and it doesn't start with coverage, we're talking about a non-impact DB.Unless you make an impact with 6.5 sacks, 6 pass break ups, 1 td and 2 ff.
If they're going LBer, I hope it's with the idea that they're going to go a lot more 3-3-5 type nickel packages and blitzing a lot more. It could be a lot of fun if they draft, say, Simmons, and give some of those looks.Delpit's the only safety I would draft in round one. CB will probably have some more depth.
Best POY defensively is how I would draft this year. Some good interior line prospects and some linebackers that would pair with Smith/Leighton effectively.

Quinn - Collins - DLaw - Simmons - Jaylon - LVE could be a lot of fun to watch on passing situations.
They don't have the coaches - or the chutzpah - to pull that off right now, but that's the only way I can see going after any type of LBer in the first.
If we take a LB early, that means we screwed up so badly maybe it is time to start over.Totally agree - I don't see us taking a LB that high when we've already spent a premium at the position and guys like Thomas/March have actually been okay this year (really hoping Gifford can contribute).
Why would the put him at fs when they specifically took Marcus Maye in the 2nd round to play that position?Adams had been getting shuffled around the secondary like Byron was, leading to him wanting to be moved. Maye missed 10 games last yearWhy would the put him at fs when they specifically took Marcus Maye in the 2nd round to play that position?
