While this is true, the last three games played, we have scored a grand total of 20 points in the first three quarters of the games combined. This is not a sign of a good offense.

The score at half of these last three games.
17-7 Bears
13-7 Bills
10-6 Patriots

The offense isn't even good when the games are close.

Great point!

I said I didn't understand why we went away from the run when it was still a tight game.
You are talking bout going away from the run down 20 points in the 2nd half. Big difference.

You don't have to explain a statement to me that I never made.

They actually didn't abandon the run until late into the game once they were down huge. And even then, they still tried to run at times.

What happened is that Other than the first drive, and a 31 yard run, Zeke was largely ineffective on first down getting one or two yards. Putting the offense in 2nd and long situations that the passing game did a poor job of getting out of. There were lots of 3 and outs.

We can no longer rely in the running game to carry us or be the staple of this offense. The passing game is the strength of this offense and we need to pass in order to open up the run.

Throwing 50 times a game is definitely not the answer either. There has to be balance, but I would pass early more often then not and get a lead. Rushing the passer is the strength of the defense, not stopping the run. So early leads would help out with that as well.

Cowboys do the opposite. Accept for those first 3 games where they were aggressive and threw a lot early.

And what about the other 10 games? Do those not suit your agenda?

And what about the 2nd half of these 3 games? Do those not suit your agenda either?

Pats and Bills are two of the better defenses in the NFL. Bears are not horrible either.

First half of games under Garrett are typically devoted to running Zeke into the middle of the line until we get down double digits.

My agenda, if I had one, would be for the Cowboys to become a dominant team again. IMO, you become a dominant team by beating good/dominant teams. We, for various reasons, cannot accomplish this.

I used the last 3 games because they were all losses. Our defense is atrocious, but our offense is not showing up when it still matters either.

It was obvious in the game, that our defense was not stopping the Bears. So we had to get aggressive. Zeke and his 3 yards and a cloud of dust wasn't going to cut it once we got down 10 points. Which was in the 2nd quarter.
Unfortunately that has been the case in several games.

Many fans were begging for a change from the offense. I personally liked 250 yards control the ball Smash Mouth. It kept the defense off the field longer first of all.Now they’re exposed because they really truly weren’t that good. Was it because they were the youngest starting defense in the league I don’t know. I don’t like anything that came with the changes of the season. Frustrated like most go cowboys

The team is Tanking on purpose to get rid of Garrett...

The offense was doing great and can move the ball, most of the time. But there have been too many times this season when they needed to move the ball and just couldn't get it done. Yes, they are among the league leaders in stats, but to be honest, they don't look very good to me. The run game looks mediocre at best and with this O-line and RB that should not be the case. What's the problem? IDK but they better figure it out quickly.
And Dak is getting swarmed when he needs to make a play in the passing game and it's effecting him and the team adversely at the worst possible times.

I love him, but it's past time for Rod to be gone. His style of defense is killing them. I seriously feel like this is the main problem.
He and Richard are clearly not on the same page with the coaching/ play-calling/scheme and the players are confused by it.
I think they really do have some quality players on D but can't seem to get it together. That screams coaching issues.

Is Jason and flat out poor coaching the reason for all of this? Or is it the players feelings for having an owner like Jerry? I question all of it.

Blame the defense. They aren't doing their part.

Neither are the not so special teams.
Our offense isnt good at all. They are the best example of why total yardage is a poor measuring stick for how good a unit is. We pad a lot of stats against bad teams, and against good teams prevent defenses

If the offense isnt just as big a problem as the defense, then its pretty close

Trying to establish the run is this offense's biggest problem. You're purposely limiting the number of points you can score in a league where every rule is designed to help you score points. Trying to win games 20-13 is about the worst approach you can have in today's NFL. The defense is fine - it's like we forget that we've lost two games where the opponent (NO and NE, of all teams) scored a total of 25 points.

There should only be one goal for NFL teams now, and it is score as many points as you can. With all of the resources that this team has poured into the offense - 5 first-round draft picks, a 2nd, 3rd, La'El, and Dak - it is just unbelievably stupid to have an offensive mindset of "let's go kick of a field goal," "let's give the punter some room," or "let's work some clock." Any mentality other than "score a touchdown" is just...unfathomable. The idea of dedicating what this team has to the offense and then relying on the defense is just so stupid I can't comprehend it.

250 yards per game would be worse than the Commanders this year....

Agree with a lot of this.

The drive after the Lews INT is perfectly emblematic of this offense. Tough spot to be, but to do NOTHING there kills you.

Rod/Richard's defense has taken on the personality of the head coach. They are just totally scared to give up big plays (and generally don't), and that makes the job of opposing offenses incredibly easy. They've also been missing 5 really important players (Woods, Crawford, LVE, Heath, Brown) that has really hurt them...especially against the run. I agree that the defense is a bit outdated b/c they don't disguise anything, but that has always been JG's mantra. Hard to say how much blame Rod/Richard should get for that.

The problem with the offense is in games versus good teams the majority of the yards have come when the game has been settled.

When the defense gives up a score the offense is not responding. This leaves the defense in a tough spot of having to hold the opponent scoreless until the offense comes around. The problem is it sometimes takes quarters for the offense to produce points. During this time the defense has given up too many points for the offense to overcome.

Two stats, Dallas has lost every that they trailed at the half and have lost every game that the opponent has scored 30 points. Many will say the defense sucks, but I believe if the offense was more consistent over four quarters that in turn would make the defense more consistent which would have resulted in more wins instead of a 6-7 record.

Believe it or not, it's the offense that needs to get it together and the defense will follow.
