In the 50 years you have been watching the league how many QBs played like Jackson? In an offense like the Ravens offense today? I can only think of one, but I have only been watching like league for 20 years give or take.
There really hadn’t been many. Not who used their running ability quite in this manner which is more common in college.

It’s obviously very effective. My friends have described it as “ flavor of the month” or “ flash in the pants” but all agree it’s not sustainable over time and they need to take advantage of it before he gets hurt. I agree.

Would Jackson be an effective passer without his running threat?

I think he obviously would. He has shown this year to be a very capable passer making high degree of difficulty throws that have nothing to do with running ability or lack there of. I think if you watch his technique and his ability to read the field you can only come to the conclusion that yes, even without the threat of his athleticism he would be a very capable QB.

You know it struck me.

10 years ago a lot of people were saying Garret would go to Baltimore.

They interviewed him and didn’t make an offer. Then they hired Harbaugh.

It just struck me as they were praising Harbaugh.

Edit: Holy crap. I looked it up. They made him an offer. SMH! Dodged a bullet.

The problem though is defenses have to defend him differently because of his running threat. Take his legs away and he’d be much less effective and much more defendable.

Nice 4th down play by Jackson.

Getting sick of the media playing this guy up....especially when he's throwing the football. He's doesn't have a "rocket" arm...yet Buck has been repeatedly saying Jackson...rockets the ball...when in reality....the ball wobbles worse than Dak's.

That’s all hype.

I’ve been a critic of his running style but make no mistake it’s been very effective setting the league on its heels. I get the awe. It will earn him MVP and could lead them to a championship.

I have a feeling the Jets fans are going to hold a grudge against this Ravens team for a while. There's alot of mocking going on tonight...

Too bad Garrett didn't go to Baltimore. Maybe we'd be threatening to go to the Super Bowl and the Ravens would be threatening to go to the toilet bowl.

As good a Lamar Jackson is does anyone believe he would be thriving the same way under Garrett the way that he is with Harbaugh coaching him and building the perfect system around him to fit his skill set?

Has nothing to do with style of offense, it’s all about # of carries. A QB runs the ball a lot like he does will get injured. It’s just a matter of time. Rockport’s law of football physics.

Agree to disagree here. I say if Jackson masters the slide he will be fine. I can see a ten year or twelve year career.

If Jackson was only making simple passes to wide open receivers then I might agree with you, but if you actually watch the game then you would see that is not the case. I think he would be a star even without his running threat, and I think as time goes on he may tone down his running somewhat because it does indeed put him at risk.

having a great defense that gets takeaways and sets up great field position sure does help, and ST’s also.

He can slide all he wants it doesn’t matter. Someone is going to take a shot at him.

Hard to tell but that was pretty close to hitting him.

Hoping Lamar gets one more series, take all the fantasy points I can get in a playoff game.
