well given meyer has already said you don't pass up the opportunity to coach the cowboys, this seems like clickbait to me but hey - anyones guess at this point. writing a NO COACH WILL WORK FOR JONES article is another way of saying they had nothing else to write about.

I can see Jerry doing the same thing he did with Parcells with Urban. Step back for a couple years. Then BOOM back to old groundhog day Jerry. lol

Jerry only backed off for one year. Then in the 04 offseason forced Eddie George and marcellus wiley on the roster.

Once they lost those games to ny and pitt and the season changed he was already on the radio singing a different tune.

After the election in 04 the city gave him the money and the ok for the stadium. Then Jerry went back to being jerry.

That is why that spare Drew Henson started against Chicago on thanksgiving because Jerry basically demanded it. Parcells later said about this that I had to show Jerry he couldn't do it.....He also later said a similar thing about Romo, Parcells had to convince Jerry Romo could handle the job when Jerry wanted bledsoe in there because of his experience.

Parcells got one year of peace because the jones family needed that damn money and the location for the new stadium.

Its a good thing Stephen has been getting more and more control.

If I didn't see Jerry and Bill work together in 03,04 and 05, I would agree. Of course in 06 JJ forced TO on Bill and we knew the end was near. But he did suck it up for 3 years and let Bill do his thing. Maybe at 77 JJ can stay our of Urban's way for a few seasons. It's a fine line IMO, I think younger guy like Riley might not have the resume to demand respect from the players in spite of the manchild owner undermining them. I think Urban has his own presence and resume to him, to not have to worry about that. Having Zeke there who he won a championship with helps (see Irvin/Jimmy)

No question it would be a short term 1-3yr gig but I wouldn’t state what he said that way....
Urban is the one who wants to “entertain” the possibilities, and now Dallas does too. 100-1 this same guy also said “Urban would never consider it.” Yet....here we are.

Pretty sure people said the same thing about Jerry and Parcell. Jerry and probably more importantly Stephen knows they need to get this right. The next will have one of the league's most expensive team that in a win-now mode. This is why I see them swinging big and sacrificing whatever necessary to get the best.
that was in my opinion a different situation with parcells. they had a run of 5 bad years in a row. bad draft after bad draft. couldn't get out of a slump and jerry had to admit he couldn't do it. Parcells came in and educated him and turned it around and reloaded the team, but jerry after the 2nd years started to meddle. he couldnt' resist. he thought he learned everything and could now once again get involved and 2 years later, with one year left in parcells contract, he left. the rest is history....

I think now, after 15 years. Jerry is older and getting closer to a point he would have to step away and he sooooo baaadddlllly wants one more championship to prove he is a good GM....and thus he is more desparate. bringing in any college coach, will automatically allow him to meddle since Jerry "knows" NFL, thus he has to be involved.

that's why if Meyer is the control freak that's being reported, won't workout with Jerry. if Jerry goes college coach which unfortunately looks more and more like it, its probably Riley....that will allow Jerry to meddle on the defensive side and help Riley put his staff together with Jerry's input and that would be beginning of a disaster and more desparate moves in the future

It seems to me that those with excessive financial resources are now able to greatly extend their expected lifespan.

For sure. Top medical experts and well they aren't worried about how much a procedure costs.

It's crazy to me that Paul Allen battled forms of cancer since 1982.

Almost 36 years of his life he lived with the thought that cancer could take him down early.

So if Meyer " couldn't exist with Jerry " as these guys will be persisting, why would we be hearing from Meyer's own mouth, per (Cowlin Herd interview) as he virtually make mention
that the Cowboys job " would be THE job to have. "

that's why i'm not going for this third party comments and so called reports from these media hypes.
Either they want the attention, or they more want to believe a scenario where Meyer shouldn't; be interested in working with Jerry.

Says he doesn’t really know him then claims he knows it wouldn’t work. Lol. Needed a segment filler I guess.

Maybe that’s what is needed. JJ hires him and he gets a staff together. We are electric on the field. Then about a half a season in the arguments start behind closed doors over JJ getting to involved and changing things he shouldn’t be. JJ makes a few under handed comments to the media and it all blows up and the team loses out when Urban quits in a loud way on media.
And I thought fans rooting for the Cowboys losing out this year was perverse!

People if Meyers didn't think he could work for Jerry ( don't think for a second he doesn't know or hasn't heard about Jerry's so-called reputation) he would have ALREADY removed his name from any consideration. In fact, he'd probably be on USC payroll already.

The most important dynamic is whether a HC can co-exist with the Owner/GM in Dallas. Being able to handle being undercut often is not easy to handle. Takes a special person to manage that and still win ball games.

3 more weeks of all of this stuff, possibly 4 weeks.
Can't get here soon enough.

I am ready for a new HC and entire staff, and it will make it a better off season.
