its a reason why Garrett was not given a renewed long term extension, after 2018.
This was his version of one year -prove it deal. And he's flunked with flying colors.

Some of his old flaws and habits resurfaced and reared it's ugly head again this year.
And it's obvious that there are some things so critically needed and demanded of a HC
that simply is not in Garrett's being, and just as it has haunt and crippled this team in the past
and still cripples and limits this team so severely.

And once known as a good motivational coach who had the means to keep his team
fighting and scratching, i'm seeing more and more give up and lack of fight in this team.

And the killer blow to ANY head coach, is you're flat done as a coach when your players begin to give up
on you.

If the Cowboys win the division, and win 2 games in the playoffs, making it to the NFC Championship Game (hey, it could happen, though unlikely), it may be HARD to fire Garrett . But I still think Jerry will.

I believe Garrett only saves his job is if the team makes it to the Superbowl, and we all KNOW how unlikely that is. And honestly, I don't think Garrett will even want to come back at this point - JJ's already shopping, he has little fan support and has little pundit support, so why come back to Dallas?

This marriage is simply over, likely even if the Cowboys get lucky, go on some amazing run, and wind up in the Superbowl.

As of now it's still undetermined.

If they miss the playoffs= fired
If they happen to make the palyoffs but lose in rds 1 or 2= fired
If they go to the Championship game and lose= ??? 3 year extension ???
If they somehow go beyond the Championship game= 10 year extension
That is scary.

No chance. Even if they get into the playoffs, they might luck up and win a home game before getting washed up in the divisional round like always. He's done.

Technically Garrett can't be fired, unless it's before the Cowboys are done in the playoffs, because his contract runs out after this year.

Not renewing a contract or giving a new one isn't the same as being fired, though the result is the same - Jason Garrett will no longer be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

But what do you bet Jerry brings him back in some sort of role, like "consultant" or "assistant"?

Jason may not want that, but if no other team offers him much of a job, such as head coach, offensive coordinator, director of player personnel or such, he may decide to let Jerry "show me the money!!!!!!!!"...

if you see Jerry actually " tearing up " after a Bills Thanksgiving loss, that was pretty much a great indication that Jerry realized that Garrett has lost the
team and his long attached 10 year HC that he wanted so much to succeed for this team for many more years to come, has to come to an end.

And this wasn't decided in just the last few game losses, its' a reason why Garrett wasn't given a new contract after 2018 seasons end.
That was the ultimate sign that Garrett was really on the hot seat. His last gasp to remain HC.

I know it had to be paining Jerry to see his NFC East rival Philly winning a SB that Cowboys have been decades away getting back to. I know it had to be killing Jerry
to see up and comers like NIners ,take the NFC by storm in just a few years of rebuilding that team, while his own team remains an enigma and always given a quick
exit out of the playoffs at best.

and for those that keep harping on Jerry this and Jerry that bashing. It's not just Jerry that's directing and calling the shots on players and coaches future, I really
believe his son Stephen Jones and Wil McClay are very heavily involved and have very powerful says in these long term plans and team strategies.

Most fans understand we have a salary cap. No one gives a rats @$$ how profitable the team is to Jerry.
Lol yea.

Without a cap, Dallas would have won 10 Super Bowls.

The salary cap is the least of my concerns. Actually not concerned at all. It always works itself out. And it is under control now, so it is even better.

And a lot of things are in play coming up. TV broadcast rights, Players union and the CBA.

Also there is a clause in place that teams can't overpay players by a preset % before the CBA is approved as well as the TV rights. This is to prevent teams from over paying players to keep or obtain in a competitive advantage situation. As they know the TV contracts will be huge therefore increasing the salary cap.

I just hope in the TV rights, they stop the monopoly that DTV has on the NFL ST. They need to have a different way of doing this.
Not only are many fans and families are priced out of going to games, the are also priced out of watching their favorite teams. There are many streaming sites out there for free, so they may as well give a better streaming alternative but keep it cheap enough too.

This again?

You guys act like the Cowboys are the only team in history that has ever raised their ticket prices.

I've got some breaking news for you - all teams do!

I think it was this season, or maybe it was last season. Was the 1st time Jerry raised the ticket prices at AT&T stadium.
The deal was when you bought your PSL's, they would not raise the prices for at least 5 years.

That what it was for mine in the club mezzanine seat. They were $340 per seat, I think they went up to $365.
I have no idea about other areas. I sold mine before the 2016 season, but read where the prices went up. Pretty sure it was this season.

I see so many posters saying we can't afford to pay this contract or that one.

We can afford it becuz in the end we the fans will cover it.

The ownership knows they will raise ticket prices and suite costs, vendor fees and advertising fees not to mention increased TV contracts to reline their banking balances plus interest.

Not to mention increased salary cap space each year to do it on paper.

So stop worrying about it.

Worry about dropped passes, missed tackles, and Garrett going for it on 4th down inside our own 40 in the upcoming games to try to save his job.

That stuff is what is ahead. Garrett finding a way to give Jerrah a reason to keep him is where we need to be worried.

Garrett has slipped off his baited hook so many times he is a worm with 9 lives.

Comments ?

Some contracts are better than others. Zeke was horrible. Paying a back 15 million per season was just plain dumb. Especially two years before his rookie deal was up.

Paying guys like Dak and Cooper are a necessity. They are the strength of the team.

Lawrence is on the fence at the moment.

You get Cooper for 18 and Dak for 35 and that is fine.

So, say by some miracle he gets to the SB.

And he comes back. How would that make you feel? Would the appearance be worth it?

Cowboys fan says approximately 5-10 %
Jerry approximately 30-50%

Chances I remain Cowboys fan within next two years after being Cowboys fan more than 50 years is approximately 10-20%

Obviously these stats are not really known. But, it is evident that the Cowboys are stuck in a mediocre mindset.

Thoughts?
This isn't really a basis for discussion because for all we know Jerry has already made a decision on Garrett (my guess is he has), or even if he hasn't the odds could be dramatically different than indicated here.

I fully expect jg to be coach next year still.
I fully expect the opposite. It's been hard to get through Jerry's thick skull, but the mantra that Garrett needs to go is flowing through the fan base and every media source, and it's almost non-stop. And Jerry likely assumes it is creeping into the locker room as well. Plus, Jerry himself has made several comments over the last few weeks that indicated he isn't happy with the coaching, and that's something new.
