The same was said about Bill Parcells before he climbed aboard the Cowboys wagon. I agree Urban Meyer is an unlikely selection by JJ but the reasons listed here are off-target.

I think this is the bill parcels moment again. Jerry gives urban leeway and steps back once he’s here....for like a year steps back lol

ESPN's Finebaum: Urban Meyer Couldn't Co-Exist With Cowboys' Jerry Jones Beyond One Game

FRISCO - ESPN's Paul Finebaum probably knows Jerry Jones only by reputation. But he surely knows Urban Meyer, and that's enough for him to label the idea of a marriage between the two, "One of the most hilarious things I've ever heard,'' Finebaum predicting that the relationship wouldn't last beyond one game.

Finebaum thinks he’s an SEC/college savant.

Still think Urban is a giant Jerry red herring.

Yeah except for Jerry had zero influence on all of this..Urban, the man himself, is the one who mentioned it firsthand.

In fact, besides the radio clip of Jerry denying everything last week, I don't think the old man has mentioned anything about Urban..at all

The latest on Matt Rhule and the NFL teams who are interested in interviewing him
Baylor Bears head coach Matt Rhule will be one of the hottest NFL head coaching candidates this offseason. What teams are interested in him and does he have a preference? PFN Insiders Tony Pauline and Ben Allbright weigh in with what they are hearing.

One of the hottest names in college football right now is Baylor Bears head coach Matt Rhule, and he may be heading to the NFL this offseason. In fact, sources tell Pro Football Network Insiders Tony Pauline and Ben Allbright that Rhule will be an even hotter candidate than Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley. But, where will he land and what is Rhule’s preference? Sources tell Pauline and Allbright that at least two teams are interested right now – the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. And when it comes to Rhule’s preference, Pauline notes that if the New York Giants head coaching job opens up, he’s very interested in the position

I don't believe everything Fisher says, and who is Finbaum and how does he know, just another opinion.

Paul Finebaum is the college football equivalent of a Stephen A Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Skip Bayless, etc. I refer to him as the Jerry Springer of college football. He graduated college from Tennessee and was ran out of Tennessee because he is a huge Alabama fan. For a long time he ran a radio show in Alabama that focused on callers calling in about the Alabama and Auburn football programs. He would let opposing fans of both teams be on the radio at the same time and let them argue with each other. It was a complete circus show. Kind of like Howard Stern with his wack pack. He would get on the radio and just stir things up between both fan bases to get them to call into his station and rip on each other. He has now moved on to ESPN. I think he does a college football show on ESPN. I know he does a college football radio broadcast for ESPN on Sirius XM. It is on around 5:00 PM CST. It is a caller based show basically because Finebaum doesn't really have much to offer other than stirring stuff up among college football fan bases. Anyway, any opinion he has is just pure speculation and a chance to get himself heard. He has no insight on any of the people involved in the Dallas Cowboys coaching situation.

I don't believe for a second that that small comment from Urban alone has created this media storm. Somebody from the Cowboys is fanning those flames. And only one guy could.

This is ridiculous. This is the same guy who said Lincoln Riley would be the next coach of the Cowboys. So Meyer cant co exist but Riley can? This is him not wanting to be wrong and making up stuff to be right.
uhhh are you replying to me? I like Urban Meyers and think we need a guy that can stand up against the grain (aka Jerry). Based on your reply, it sounds like we are on same page

edit: after re-reading your reply, sounds like you are disagreeing with the author's premise that Urban Meyer and Jerry can't coexist. Well I can understand that too. I don't necessarily agree with the author either, but what I do know is we need a guy who runs the show without strings so if Jerry steps out on a limb and lets him then great, especially if that means later he can stand up to Jerry when Jerry forgets why he hired him.

Its a good thing Stephen has been getting more and more control.

He is just as bad.

Go watch his interviews going all the way back to wades first year here. he is a clueless ego maniac just like his dad is. In 2008 he was on local tv bragging about how stacked the roster was and how they had tons of calls on guys and should be adding some draft picks. the reality was they never did. The funny thing is they drafted Erik Walden and cut him without receiving anything and the guy played in the league for a decade. I guess ol steve missed that one.

My favorite was he found the secret sauce. This was an admission of we don't know what we are doing and we finally figured it out. If not for a bad call in GB maybe they would have that year.

However the 2015 season I guess the secret sauce no longer applied.

He is in charge currently and the team is a mess with no help in sight.

We are going to end up with Chip Kelly v.2 with meyer or riley and the giants are going to end up with Rhule who has the potential to be a top coach in the league and are going to possibly get a young tom coughlin.

it's really going to suck.

Mike Fisher is really nut rolling here in my opinion and vlogging drivel based off his emotions. Fisher is a fan of the boys and wants them to win and is using reverse physiology on himself so he isn't let down when and if Jerry can't get a deal done with Urban. Fisher is getting older and weak minded, don't put any stock in what he says.

Jerry is in uncharted territory here these days, he has the national media laughing at him for the reasons we always have. They are saying he is a control freak, a meddler, an ego maniac whom is desperate and a loser. Jerry may be rich in wealth but he isn't rich in spirit right now and hates being laughed at. You would be a fool to not at least consider he is ready for a huge change at this point in his life.

Pretty sure people said the same thing about Jerry and Parcell. Jerry and probably more importantly Stephen knows they need to get this right. The next will have one of the league's most expensive team that in a win-now mode. This is why I see them swinging big and sacrificing whatever necessary to get the best.

My exact thoughts. If Parcells can coach here for four years I don't understand why it's laughable that Urban Meyer could. I don't think anyone expects Urban would be here for 10 years like Garrett.

Dont you have inside sources? I remember us talking during the Adams saga. Any news you can share? I dont think Meyer nor Riley is Chip. Chip wanted to run a no huddle offense with veterans. It would never work. Riley is more of an innovator then Kelly. Meyer is just all around a great coach.

not when it comes to coaches. I don't think anyone knows anything because the two people making the decision are probably not sure what they are going to do.

Very well stated. Agree completely. If we lose vs the Rams this weekend, the post you just made will become even more pertinent.
