I wouldn’t want Rivera, he’s barely over .500 as a coach but depending on now they got along I could easily see him going to the Giants since he was HC when the current GM of the Giants took over as GM in Carolina and they went to the Super Bowl within a year or two.

Rhule would be awesome but I could see him going to NY as well. Not only is he from NY, and would have coached the Jets if they let him pick his own staff, but he was a former assistant with the Giants so there is familiarity and the whole home town thing.

Its interesting that Rhule has had the same core group of coaches around him at temple and baylor and they have had success. I have to imagine he would bring them along if or when he gets an nfl job. Phil Snow, Jeff Nixon and marcus satterfield seem to be the key guys.

Nixon worked for Andy Reid and Tony Sporano in the nfl.

Someone is going to get what appears to be a group of guys ready to succeed in the nfl.

Jerry Jones himself has said how he says things in the media to get fans going and create speculation when he knows it’s just blowing smoke.

Sad thing is the same people who claim to be tired of him fall for the same thing every year. Jerry Jones’s soundbites during the season give little to no indication on what will actually occur. He just wants you to hang on his every word and y’all do it every time.

How many times did he go back and forth on D Law contract, Zeke contract. JG’s future? Plenty of times and rarely did it ever give us any real indication of what would happen, “reading between the lines” with Jerry is so pointless.

smoke screens and camouflage are proven battlefield techniques. three games to play and then we'll know. what i gleaned from his quote is he continues to talk about potential coaches. wasp stings in garrett's ears.

Rhule coached under Coughlin, he has been in the NFL and saw it done at the highest level under a hall of fame coach.

Rhule makes all the sense in the world but he won't be treated as an equal by Jerry and he knows that. He is going to end up in NY and they are going to have a great coach going forward.

I saw something on the Giants/Reddit where there was a rumor Rhule was interested in NY if the spot becomes vacant.

Edit: here's the story, I don't think the source is credible though.

"As noted earlier, Pauline’s sources have told him that if the Giants head coaching job opens up, he’s interested in the position. However, Allbright reports that Rhule would want near-total authority. Would Giants general manager Dave Gettleman be willing to concede power to Rhule?"

Yep, Matt Rhule and some of his staffers have NFL chops.

Also, someone mentioned it earlier about his psych background and certain likenesses to Jimmy. I mean, I want to envision that myself, but I dunno. Still, he is impressive.

This dude is really clever and is one of those who will turn over every rock to find an edge. He had Baylor right there in a position to beat Oklahoma after losing Charlie Brewer, all the way down to his #3 QB.

While so many seem seduced by Urban a few weeks ago shouting out the Cowboys (and people bit hard on that), Matt Rhule is the guy I’ve been pulling for to land this gig.

Meyer and Riley are outstanding coaches who develop talent, no doubt. Rhule has not only taken Baylor to the brink of a national playoff berth, but he won ten games (twice) at Temple. Remember, Baylor was losing games to the likes of UTSA and Liberty when he first got there.

The guy just comes off as really buttoned-up, has his shhhh together. Unlike these other two, who rarely work with a talent disadvantage, Rhule is usually grinding to find any edge he can. You know, he’s actually coaching.

He may not look the part and the name isn’t all that sexy as coaches go, but I can certainly understand why NFL teams are all over the guy.

I'm sorry, but if you do even the slightest bit of research on Meyer, these two bolded statements that I have provided are completely false.

Trust me, go look him up before you throw him in the same category as Riley.

Just throwing something out here..my Meyer bias aside..

I'd you're sitting at a Texas Hold 'Em table with Pocket Rockets(two Aces), the flop comes out Ace Ace King..you're not going to be hyping the possibility of you having quads.

You're going to talk it off, if at all(which Lord knows, Jerry is a mouthy SOB)pointing out possibilities of flushes, or full houses..anything other than what would give your hand away.

Yes, my Meyer bias aside, I strongly doubt Jerry would come out and hint at anything that's going to give his hand away..

True. But at the same time I believe the Cowboys front office has floated these college HC names for weeks to the usual media suspects to create a smokescreen. The next Dallas HC is either Garrett or an NFL coordinator not being talked about right now.

Okay, I’ll bite. What specifically are the issues with these two excerpts? Did Matt Rhule not win ten-plus twice at Temple?

he is from NY and coached there already. He would be able to hire his own staff there. It makes perfect sense.

Yea, they most likely wouldn't have the greater probability of success as say a Jason Garrett would with all of the success he had when Jerry plucked him out of the sewers of new Jersey.
