Having Witten and Lee on the roster near season's end is very telling

Schultz has been quiet because there isn’t enough reps to go around.

My recollection is that Schultz has made plenty of noise screwing up in his limited snaps this year. That's why he hasn't taken more of the blocking snaps from Witten. Witten is still the better blocker. And better than Jarwin too.

People complain about the old man. They should complain about the young men who can't beat him out, and the older men who left us with a roster where an old man is our best blocking TE.

My post in the preseason was met with much derision and fits.
The consensus was that Witten was a superb blocker, had excellent hands and was an on-field coach. (He said years ago he was not there to mentor.)

Also, that Lee's experience and work ethic would inspire the pups Jaylon and LVE and, again, that Lee would be an on-field coach.

I suspect that Jerry's love for these two fossils blinded him to what was in the team's best interests.

Imagine how much better Jarhead and Schultz would be with the snaps Witten wasted.
Imagine how we'd have developed other LBs without Lee taking a roster spot.

Rotten way to manage a team, this compassion for elders!
Having Witten and Lee on the roster was done with the heart, not the intellect, ruffians!
Any other team would have disposed of these two dinosaurs in 2017.
When the team loses folks will crap on everyone.

Witten is the bridge player for Schultz, the balanced TE. The problem at TE seems to be that Schultz blows, so Witten keeps playing.

We spent lots of time and roster spots on Schultz and Rico, and with that not paying off, we're short on TE talent.
Naw man they aren’t giving Schultz enough reps....sure he hasn’t been great but that’s not a excuse to keep putting Witten out there as much as they have.

Lee has been a necessity. Witten continues to be a progress stopper.

Witten is a giant. Has always been the same. Lost speed likely. Want to see them hit these guys on seam routes. But he is master of the Y option.

I think it could be argued that Lee has played as well or better the Smith or lve....witten is not as explosive as jarwin but he also has had a better year than many expected....

Why don't we talk about some of the secondary garbage players or our complete lack of any interior pass rush...

No, we don't need TEs that know how to block.

I will always have a ton of respect for what these 2 players have done for the organization

it’s probably a good thing we got Lee because of injuries even though he’s average at best

if Witten could just play down by the goal line he’d serve this team well

both of these players are done and would be great to have on the coaching staff next year and beyond

lee was so good for a few years he was just never cut out for the NFL his body couldn’t take it. Like the bosa guys they’re always going to be injury prone.

I didn't like those moves either...they've moved on from better players in their 30s before. And, after what Jarwin continues to do with limited opportunities it's tough to see why Witten continues to get the most snaps.

Lee has helped the defense some. They should've added a young guy, but I see why they kept Lee. Maybe we see what Gifford can do.

How did jarwin and Schultz do last year before witten? They sucked that's how They did. Jarwin had only 27 catches last year and you can't blame old man witten.

Good point.
Now, go away, Jason. Time for new blood!
Or, charron elf, you would suffer with Witt in 2020? !!
Lol
Answer that. You want Witt in 2020?

The well-meaning but wrong mod who changed the time:
I am saying this again, AT SEASON'S END, that having Lee and Written was telling.
The new title suggests waiving these players now.
Nothing be further from the truth!
Please correct to "At season's end, I say again, having Witt and Lee on the roster is telling."

Suffer with witten...lol. y'all realize their stats aren't far apart and untill for most of the year witten was miles ahead in catch % untill the bad Pat's game. Their average yards per catch difference is 2 yards. So if this year proves anything it's that having 2TE's that can catch is sorely needed.

Witten wants the all time TD record so the coaches let him start and design plays for his slow ***

Yes, I don't know why some choose to attack these two players who've given us a lot of good years. Sure they are on the back end of their careers and are not as good as they once were, but we're not 6-7 because we're playing Lee instead of some rookie or Witten instead of Schultz.
They are both past their prime but at least they had a prime. Getting tired of the others on this team that never live up to their potential.

Jarwin shows potential, Schultz not so much.

Dak surprised a lot of us this year with his improved passing. Jason was a no brainer addition to the team in the Spring.

Jason & Blake's stats aren't all that far apart from each other. I'm thinking there is a comfort level with Jason that has him on the field more than Blake.
