I'd take just about anyone right now and I'm no fan of McCarthy. Knowing Jerry his choice will be underwhelming anyway.

My motto is "ABC"...............Anybody But Clappy;)

You are right, I am keeping my expectations low because the odds of Jerry hiring a big name like Riley or Meyers is pretty low. I am expecting a McCarthy or Riverboat Ron honestly.

Not sure he's a good fit.......huge on the so-called alpha dog players. Word is his WC offense was one of the easiest to defend. There were also rumblings he'd gotten complacent/lazy near the end of his Packer job. What's more concerning for me is the Browns front is loaded people who have worked with him but they didn't interview him for their vacancy last year.

Mike McCarthy 'needs football,' eyeing 2020 return: Five potential landing spots for former Packers coach
The Super Bowl-winning coach is plotting for a new job, so where could he end up?

It's now been more than a year since Mike McCarthy was fired by the Green Bay Packers, ending a 13-year run as head coach that included four NFC Championship Game appearances and a Super Bowl title.

As CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported in November and NFL Network documented this week, McCarthy is now "preparing in earnest" for a return to the sidelines in 2020. After spending most of this season with his family, away from the game, the 56-year-old has formed The McCarthy Project, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, an assembly of longtime coaches collaborating "as if they're the NFL's 33rd coaching staff" with everything from film and analytics study to playbook prep and practice scheduling.
hell no, trying to get away from conservative play calling coaches

I’m all in, one of the top 5 HC in the NFL when he was active. 18-10 playoff record yes please. West coast offense is perfect for Dak and our WR’s.

He has won a Super Bowl, numerous playoff games, knows the NFL landscape, & is an experienced coach at the highest level.

McCarthy has at least demonstrated success in the NFL, & is more than capable at confronting Jerry.
An unproven head coach, or a head coach with no NFL experience is more than likely to be bulldozed by the egomaniac Jerry.

I favor Urban cuz he just maybe the "right" combination of coach, motivator, & personality that can flourish in Dallas -- but McCarthy should be in the mix.

you sure bout that?
that cry baby seems to be strugglin' without him.
and if it was all rodgers...why didnt they win more?
McCarthy is a good coach.
rodgers is a coach killer.
Lol, are you kidding me? Struggling? He has 23 TD’s and 2 Int’s with a 102.0 passer rating and the overall offensive personnel isn’t as stout as it has been in the past.

I don’t like Rodgers as a person, he’s smug and arrogant but he’s also one of the best QB’s to ever play the game. If you ever watched McCarthy coach you would know he’s not all that and would be nothing without Rodgers.

Remember the 2016 playoffs? Why do you think we almost came back in the second half when GB was up 28-13? Do you think it was our coach that everyone loves so much or was it actually McCarthy taking his foot off the gas and playing conservative trying to protect the lead instead of putting his foot on our throat? McCarthy, not Rodgers, almost blew that game for them and he’s done that several times in big games.

You want to see the Cowboys fail for another decade? Go for it, continue to hope for McCarthy. It won’t take long for you to figure out why he was considered a good coach when Dak is his QB and not Rodgers.

I liked MM as a coach. His problems with a coach had nothing to do with Rodgers. Rodgers became a great QB under McCarthy. Typically a head coach has a shelf life of about eight years and I think McCarthys time just ran out. Mcarthy would have no problem working with Jerry Jones. He worked under Ted Thompson who never gave McCarthy any help in free agency. McCarthy would know his place under Jerry and never cause a problem with that structure. One main problem was the system was totally reliant on Rodgers. Rodgers had carte blance to run any play and when Rodgers got hurt, the team had no plan and failed miserably. The problems with McCarthy are more in his loyalty to his assistance. Dom Capers lost his edge a couple of years after the super bowl and should have been let go several years before he finally was. Toward the end of his time in Green Bay he only hired yes men on his offensive staff and many of those had no clue what they were doing. He kept Winston Moss as an assistant head coach his entire time in Green Bay and they guy had the least productive linebacker unit except when Clay Matthews was young. He kept Special TEam coordinators around even though their units were always the worst in the league and cost them a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

You always learn something when you are fired. I believe McCarthy has learned a great deal since he was let go and will be a great choice as a head coach no matter where he lands.

McCarty would be a good hire for a team like the Browns who need leadership and just overall better coaching. Someone who knows how to handle being a HC. The Cowboys need someone who thinks outside the box. The Boys have the talent we need someone to push them to the next level that's not a McCarthy or Del Rio.

my guess is he lands in cleveland if there is an opening...maybe atlanta being an offensive minded guy and they have Ryan at QB or the ny giants.
wouldn't hate him here tho.
but his personality lends to the idea he might not like Jerry as the GM.
but if he's good with it...I think he would build strong teams here.

Yeah, I wouldn't hate the idea of having him here either.

I like the guy,personally...helluva coach considering he had to deal with a cry-baby-back-stabbing QB who changes plays in the huddle and throws peole under the bus when they don't work.
I wish Dak were like this and got Garett fired a long time ago..he needs to change a lot of this bad playcalling in the huddle...Romo did it.. wed have like 3 more wins if he did especially the Jets and MN games..

It is time to move on from Clapper and bring in a coach who can take his team to the next level. The D overachieved last year and has solid pieces in Dlaw, Lee, and Gregory (when he isn’t suspended).

The Boys bright spot is undoubtedly their offense. They have a top five running back paired with a talented QB and WR's.

McCarthy would have a strong slot receiver with Coop (yes he'll remain a Cowboy), and you are talking a deadly offense that could challenge the best defenses in the league.

If the Boys bring in McCarthy, they will immediately take their offense to the next level. Go for an NFL head coach Jerry. Especially one with his SB resume. Just because GB released him due to cry baby Rodgers, doesn't mean he's not any good. Look at Andy Reid.
