The problem with the offense is in games versus good teams the majority of the yards have come when the game has been settled.

When the defense gives up a score the offense is not responding. This leaves the defense in a tough spot of having to hold the opponent scoreless until the offense comes around. The problem is it sometimes takes quarters for the offense to produce points. During this time the defense has given up too many points for the offense to overcome.

Two stats, Dallas has lost every that they trailed at the half and have lost every game that the opponent has scored 30 points. Many will say the defense sucks, but I believe if the offense was more consistent over four quarters that in turn would make the defense more consistent which would have resulted in more wins instead of a 6-7 record.

Believe it or not, it's the offense that needs to get it together and the defense will follow.

We've trailed in over 80 Percent of our game at the half.....walking up in Garbage time ain't winning us any games folks!

Maybe @Jwalker can step in and give us a breakdown on TOP vs opponents.
If the defense is a weakness, which it obviously has been, then Garretts failure and stupidity is even more obvious if you
don't build and design first and foremost around the running game.
Those of us that have been watching teams like the Ravens and 49ers this season realize that those teams have built a running game much deeper than
this team, this Cowboys team that was so heralded as the great running team.
Just because you spend a lot of money doesn't put you in first place, we think we are deep at the RB position because we payed Zeke a truckload of money and drafted Pollard?... lol
Just look at the Ravens backfield, and Im not even including Lamars effect in that dept,, that should already be obvious, they have Ingram, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill that they took in the 4th round this year that could probably be starting for some teams in the league like Miami.
The Ravens and the 49ers wont ever pay top dollar for a so called stud at RB, why would they it just doesn't fit in todays cap, teams like that just platoon the RB position because it is available every year in the draft.

I can't argue with a scheme change that has them among the best in the league in total offense and top 10 in points. Scoring more than the other guys is what wins games at the end of the day.

They can score, they just can't stop anybody from scoring.
It doesn’t matter how much you score if the other team scores more
The offense has been good enough
The defense had not

Dak still a noticeably superior QB to Aaron Rodgers?
according to some idiots on here, he's better than Brady, Brees, Rodger, Troy Aikman, well every quarterback present and past. smh.

when he calls out "kill, kill, kill" and throws the ball, what did he change? was it just from one pass play to another or is a run play changed to a pass? so how can Moore or Garrett get the blame from the quarterback changing the plays?
defense just fooling dak?

This was generally understood when Romo was the QB. Now that Dak is the QB, the offense is expected to outscore the other team all the time and the offense better start out hot. If our defense gives us 3 TDs to start the game and we fall behind 21-7 after 3 possessions, it’s the offense’s fault.

Disagree with that statement.

So u believe they went from a group of good tacklers to guys that missed 19 tackles in one game overnight is a fluke? Watch closer, they aren’t even trying...

I'm not blaming the offense for the defense's failings. If anything, I consider it the other way around. The defense allowing teams to march up and down the field and score has taken Zeke and the running game out of games this year.

This defense is abysmal. It has been from week 1 when they gave up 500 yards of offense to the Giants, but the Usual Suspects downplayed it then too.

The defense has been this way since Indy exposed them last year. What have they done to change things around or get better? Anything? Bueller? Bueller?

The blame of this falls entirely on the GM and his staff. They saw the template Indy used and saw it used by the Rams. Was Rod Marinelli asked why his defense was as porous as swiss cheese? Was he fired? Was he asked to change his dumb philosophy of using spare guys as defensive tackles?

Oh no, Coach Rod did stuff 20 years ago don'tcha know? Like Monthe Kiffin, people ride on past accomplishments here, until things completely tank, and then this organization considers a change.

I'm hoping the Dallas defense gets a shot in the arm during the next draft with two strong, stout DTs and an accomplished strong safety also. The Cowboys have needed these things desperately for years now, while those guiding our drafts have failed to do so. It is well past time to attend to it. It's also time to find replacements for Rod Marinelli and Kris Richard. Both have stubbornly force fed methods on defense that have failed.

Offensively, the Cowboys sorely need to avoid fording the run when it's not working and allow a balanced attack to prevail. The OL has regressed from where it was a few years ago and simply isn't the dominating unit that it had been in the past. The myth of Dallas' OL domination is just that nowadays.

Insisting upon doing the same things when it isn't working is no way to find success. Using some measure of common sense certainly wouldn't hurt in that regard. Possibly, that might be attended to and corrected. Opposing defenses know the run is coming on first downs before our games even start.

Acquiring better backups and hopefully, eventual starters for the OL would be a welcomed sight in 2020 and beyond. Better quality vet free agents should help to promote exactly that. The policy of acquiring tier 3 vet Free Agents sorely needs to be set aside if championship teams ever become a reality.

Much happier with the offense than I am the defense and special teams.

If your offense has to "hide" the defense, then you don't have a good enough defense.
Remember Falcons vs Patriots in the Super Bowl? Defense was doing their job, the offense was coming off the field quickly, then the defense started giving up points. Not saying our defense is anywhere close to that but TOP does have that affect. Our offense losing field position and TOP isnt helping the defense.

Funny how soon people have forgotten that we couldn't win when we were pass happy. Then in 2014, we went to running the football prolifically, and suddenly started winning. And whenever we get away from that, we start losing.

But we only ever get so far in the post season for the same reason: defense isn't good enough.

Offense can only carry a team so far. The really good teams will beat you if you can't get a stop when you really need one.

I believe the team doesn’t quit. They’re not built that way. They’re just not functioning as a team. Only cowards tankLosing confidence. When his game is so emotional is way different than thinking. So again I disagree with your statement

I agree. And it's due to what we're trying to do simply not working. I'm seeing a big mess out there. Sometimes this scheme works really well, but all too often it just breaks down, and players are unsure of what they need to do, which makes it appear as if they're not trying.

You’re using the wrong word my cowboy brother.. Tanking and frustration or two different things I thought the offense of line was disgusted with the Elliot signing. But I don’t buy into that propaganda. I train with the two time Super Bowl running back we discussed this in great length. Teams don’t tank. They just lose the motivation. Without it you can’t win in this league.

I think the Cowboys would have been happy with more balance in the offense, but between falling behind and needing to pass to catch up in some games, and the almost total ineffectiveness of the run game in some games, the passing game was pushed more to the forefront.
The last 2 games seemed like they just turned to the passing game without needing to.
