The first requirement of the HC of the DC

Regardless of who the next HC of the Cowboys is, I believe there is one requirement that is not negotiable, Kellen Moore will be the OC.

The offense is ranked 1st in passing and total yards, 10th in rushing and 9th in total points. Think that's not bragging rights for the GM? I don't think he's letting Moore go.

Now, if this is true that he's part of the deal, which way would you lean if a new HC is selected, the offense or defense? What good does a guy like Riley or McCarthy do when the offense doesn't seem to be the problem?

Wanna see something else crazy? They're 8th in total D and 12th in scoring D.

How in the hell is this team 6-7 and don't lay that all on Garrett, that's ridiculous. Stat wise, this might be the best 6-7 team in NFL history. I've looked at lot of stats and not ever seen anything like that.

And I don't know where they rank now but several weeks back, they were the best 3rd down team on both sides of the ball, none of this makes sense.

So, instead of starting another thread, I'd like to discuss what you think is wrong with this team. If I were to show you those stats, without you knowing the record of that team, what would you guess? 6-7? Those are the stats of a 10 win team so far into the season.

So, my grab bag thread is about keeping Moore, O or D guy for HC and what's wrong with this team? Take you pick or go gonzo for all three, poster's choice.

I would really like to see some well thought out theories on how a team can look like that in the stats and have that record. There are some talking heads that have been following this game for many years and they can't explain it.
No, the first requirement is to acknowledge that Jerry Jones is a senile psychopath with a god complex and will be running this team from jocks to socks. Once that is acknowledged, the HC can then and only then carry on his duties.

nope you cant expect to force KM on the new staff..if they CHOOSE not get a demand by Jerry. then im ok with it..we have to stop the vicious circle of switching out parts each time things are changed with coaches//we have been frankensteined to death since wade..no more holdovers from he old staff unless its 100% the wish of the new HC..

period end of story.. least we forget the end of the MN game and abandoning zeke when hes hot.. im sorry but a new OC will have virtually the same players to work with and can figure out a way to have them as successful..

keeping one coach is like only changing 3 of 4 old tires ona car, it wont ride right and they will always be be changed at different intervals..

nope pull the band aide, move on..

Like it or not, whoever coaches here will need to deal with the fact that he'll have to have some coaches that the players are already comfortable with. Moore and Gary Brown are definitely part of that group. Lett as well.

If the HC is offensive minded, it doesn't really matter who is nominally the OC, the HC is there to direct the guy and possibly call plays.

This is what i mean by fans talking out both ends. They critique the coaching the culture the game planning the scheme the accountability, Jones stepping on toes, coaches being puppets. But want to force a assistant coach on a new incoming coach.

Dont criticize Jerry if youre going to be in favor of doing what you critique him for.

Moore's offense if thats really true has alot of empty yrds. And what i mean about empty yrds is a whole lot of yrds without coming up with points. From the 20 to the 20 they can move the ball better then anybody in the NFL. The play calling in the redzone is the worst in the NFL. This is why you change him out too.

I think in the red zone, Moore scheme gets watered down by two things: 1)They give Dak too much leeway to audible out of plays, and I think good DC’s can fool him with different looks. 2)Garrett may get more forceful in the RZ.

When garrett threw austin under the bus, he lost the locker room, and the players are mailing it in.
By the end of the season, those gaudy stats aint gonna be so great.

Hiring "young" coaches is not the problem per se. It's all about the Head Coach and having "his" guys regardless of age/experience.

I don't think Garrett would ever have "his guys" even if Jerry stayed away.

Garrett wanted to hire OL coach Bill Callahan and they quickly grew to despise each other.

A head coach should have his guys. And if that HC feels the need to let one go then that should be an ok thing.

One problem I see:
Garrett didn't really work his way up to establish "his guys".

Garrett's guys were coaches he worked under...

If Moore is here than what's the point? The whole coaching staff needs to go or at the very least it should be up to the new HC. Moore hasn't proven anything this year.

I don't think the Jones boys will force assistants onto the the new HC; although it's possible the decision on who to hire could be influenced by who that HC plans to hire.

There will almost always be some assistants remain when a new HC is hired. A new HC can rarely hire his top choices at all positions because they're not available.

Moore is the assistant most likely to have success somewhere in the future, IMO.

I'm OK keeping a couple from (if the new HC wants them):
Moore
Kitna
Lal
Nussmeier

I think Richard would be OK as a DB coach under a quality DC and HC but they need a new voice in that position at this point.

First requirement: Don't talk about Cowboys Club...

This defeats the whole purpose of what we are trying to change. A head coach should hire his own staff. If he wants Moore then so be it. But that’s not Jerry’s decision. You guys are enabling the same consistent behavior that’s lead to 20 years of misery.

HC can recommend position coaches to the GM.

Jerry does all the hiring and firing.

Lack of execution and attention to details. We have a problem overcoming mistakes. Adjustments to how teams play us needs to be addressed. Players focusing on football. We need to change the atmosphere around this team. Too much glam and fashion for my liking.

KRichard is going to be our next DC. Legion of Boom, super bowl ring, DC for 3 years at DHawls. Number one scoring defense as DC in 2015.

He should have replaced Hot Rod after the Rams disaster .

You left Columbo off the list.

The HC in Dallas isn’t the GM.

Forgot to mention drafting football players that are leaders.

No Doubt the players have to assume I would say 85% of the blame. But doesnt getting them to play and execute squarely on the head coach's and the assistants ? And for an example not making the adjustment of playing jarwin more? I mean I think Witten it's still an effective blocker and still has some route-running skills but he is playing way too much for his age

F comfort thats the issue in the first place..the so called country club attitude, I say change everything , the players have to adapt and feel once again they will execute or this time be gone like the old coaches..you dont cater to your old players when they are 6-7 and forgot how to block, tackle, and quit getting penalized..you change the offense, defense and special teams and show the new players how to play it the way it should be..

sure you create plays and schemes to take advantage of the current players you have but who cares if they are comfortable

New culture takes a complete purge..
