What did he do with Flacco? I hate hiring a oc just because the offense finally found a QB. Romo forced Garrett upon us for a miserable 10 years.
I don't have an opinion on Roman, just asking the question.

I would need to review more than this season to develop an informed opinion.

I don't want to make Dak into a running QB but I would like to take more advantage of him as a threat to run.

Dak might not be uber fast but he is very powerful. He had some runs on 3rd downs the past couple of games that were terrific. I think it was the last game when he had 1 great run for a 1st and another that was 1/2 yard short of a 1st on 3rd and long.

People can't seem to see past the team results to notice that Dak has become a terrific QB. His accuracy has gone from a question mark to being one of the more accurate QBs in the league.

Like Romo he has an issue consistently throwing to RBs in the flat but otherwise he is threading the needle on many high degree of difficultly throws.

If the rest of the team was playing like they did in 2016, the Cowboys would be almost impossible to beat because 2019 Dak playing in the 2016 season would be off the charts.

Keep in mind that I've been conservative in praising any QB over the years until I've seen what they can do in real NFL games over multiple seasons. It is the one position that I'm reluctant to "evaluate" in the draft, etc. because the mental aspect just can't be evaluated by fans/media and only a little bit by NFL teams.

I know that I couldn't be an NFL QB even if I had Aaron Rodgers athletic ability and Belichick's knowledge of football. It takes me more than 2.5 seconds to make a decision...

Kidding aside - have lived in the Bay Area since 1990 and my buddy was fairly senior guy within Stanford AD...heard his name surface in conversations then as that program took next step to elite level (I guess you can say that process started with Walsh/Greene but hit another echelon when Harbaugh took over the program with Roman as his OC).

In any case, got to see close up how he developed Kap and that offensive scheme around his skills even though Niners arguably had a solid young QB in Alex Smith. And that appears to be a theme that has followed him to his current Ravens post and how he architected the offense around Lamar to maximize his talent. He just seems to have a knack and taking talent (esp at QB position) and fitting the system to it and not the other way around. I love that quality in a coach and Roman has consistently demonstrated it at almost every stop in his career. I think he could do wonders to make our offense consistently elite (against any level of opponent).

Excellent post. This is the type of background info I was seeking.

Dak is better than Kap all the way around.

Side Note: I'm working in the Bay area for the next 3 months (San Mateo).

I need to see if the game will be broadcast here this week.

I'm not buying any of it. Garrett will be hc again next season
So as of yesterday at 1 something you actually somehow persuaded yourself that Garrett would be performing his puppet act again next year? Man, whatever it is you're smokin, it certainly helps with the trollin.

really like the idea of Roman as HC.
he's the only current NFL asst coach I think could be a strong candidate.

others I like...
Ken Whisenhunt...currently unemployed.
Mike Munchak

He’s really only had QBs who haven’t been great throwers. Dak either chooses not to run or has been greatly hampered his last 2 years running.

Given his relationship with Kellen I have to believe Dak has said he prefers not to run as much.

What? Tyrod Taylor, Kaepernick and Lamar Jackson are "great throwers?"

Unless you are going to get a QB that runs a 4.3, the offense won't look like the Ravens offense.

You realize he sent Kaepernick and Tyrod Taylor to pro bowls too, right? He likes a mobile QB, but a 4.3 guy isn't remotely necessary.

Roman also had good to great defenses on the other side, so I think he would understand the importance of the other side of the ball as well.

He should have a great rolodex for coaches to come over with him. I like how he can create an offense that fits his players which has been lacking here for year!!

Niners conflict with our game so will need to hit sports bar (or watch online) to catch Boys game.

Yup on Dak > Kap - and all the more impressive that Roman helped make Kap the best version of himself when under Roman’s watch.

San Mateo a cute little town. Are u familiar with the Bay Area?

I actually wouldn't mind him.

He won with Kaep, and that SF team was a beast in the run game. They pummeled teams on the ground. When he went to the Bills, they were #1 in rushing yards. I remember that year with McCoy, it was pretty amazing when you looked at their talent. I want to say he was also top 5 basically every year with Kaep too.

It's kinda funny, he's now coached under both Harbaughs. He also has defensive connections from his time in SF when they had a hard nosed D, and now in Baltimore. My only hesitation would be his ability to design a passing game, but he'd also bring in an OC probably, not sure what to do with Moore but maybe he can be an underling and learn under a real coach.

It would be fun seeing us destroy people on the ground, which we'd do and should be doing. If he brings his teachings from the Harbaughs, it'd be a tough football team, and maybe actually play defense when he brings in the DC.

He'd be one of my top choices.
