Not Rocket science here , We all know some rich guy with a hobby that he absolutely sucks at but continues to pursue because its a great challenge . The problem is Jerrys hobby is on such a grand scale most fans just cant begin to fathom it. Its like asking them where outer space ends up . Its beyond there minds grasp to have such a toy to play with till the end of your existence and really no consequences surrounding it other than a nuclear war or natural disaster . LOLOL

Jerry is following his DREAM to the box adjust your expectations accordingly so watching can be as enjoyable as possible and not so frustrating you want to smash the TV .

Our only real hope to have good football to watch is the Power Running Game , It covers Jerrys dysfunction , Garretts bad coaching , and a great percentage of our other problems giving us a punchers chance to beat anyone like we all saw on Sunday and in 2016 .

"Now I would wager that if he [gave everything] to buy the team, he would do it exactly like I do it,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “I would wager that. Because you just want to, ultimately, with that much on the line and that much at stake, you want to break any ties and make the calls.”

Since 1996 the other Superbowl winning owners that ”gave everything to buy a team" hire a GM and let him do his job. His lack of success is the elephant in the room of every interview about the GM position.

There are no other owners that have bought in since Jerry purchased the team that did so with the risk he faced in 1989. For example, take Paul Allen. He bought the Seahawks in the late 90's for around $200MM. That was pocket change to him, literally a very small fraction of his net worth at the time. Allen could have absorbed losses forever, Jerry could not. Jerry changed the revenue landscape of the entire NFL and has made the other owners boatloads of money.

You want to criticize Jones for hanging on to Garrett for too long, that's fine. Otherwise, he's done a fine job as the GM of a football team. Yes, he's paid players too much from time to time. So have other GMs. That 'trend' has long been in check since Stephen's increased involvement. The front office has drafted as well as anyone, and the organization as a whole runs as a well-oiled machine. Jones puts the finest facilities in place for his players and spares no expense in giving the team the tools they need off the field.

So Jerry is the only owner in the NFL who bought their team? Why does he keep using that as an excuse of why he needs to call the football operations decisions? Bob Kraft bought his team he doesn’t need to do interviews every week and call all the shots. It’s called your ego Jerrah. Look around at other successful owners what are they doing. Jerrah’s ego will continue to destroy the Cowboys until he’s dead. Good for you Jerrah, you bought the team so keep running it in the ground, you the man.

I don't know how many of these owners played football in the SEC or were the captains of their undefeated National Championship team and love the games like this crazy old man does. He loves it, he loves football, loves being a part of it and it's not changing until he passes.

Yes he's crazy as an old bat but that's Jerry Jones
Yup, too bad he isn’t good at being GM but to hell with that. He played college ball and owns the team yeehaw.

He’s telling you how it really is. People should accept it. It’s what it is.
It is a hobby business with the Jones clan, So much for all those who say Jerry doesn't control every move on the team. Just have to wonder who the next yes man will be if in fact he dumps JG.

Why cant any reporter just be brutally honest with Jerry and be like " your way isnt working. Your team hasnt won anything in 20 plus years."

There are things to be mad about with the Cowboys but I don't think this is one of them. The Cowboys have assembled one of the better rosters in the league so Jerry having the GM hat isn't hurting the roster.

Correct but who has kept this coach employed for 10 years? And why, because he’s comfortable with him? Forget results it’s all about being comfortable so basically a yes man who will make sure that Jerrah is the voice and not the head coach.

I hate to say this because it sounds horrible. But JJ is 78 and only has so many years left. He will eventually get less involved. That will cause a change. He will either get weaker, sicker, or die and when that happens the guy who bought the team won't be in charge any longer. On that day the chance to turn around the franchise starts. I honestly don't think that Stephen is driven like Jerry is to be involved in everything the same way.

He played in the SWC, Jerry needs to be smart enough to know what you don't know.

I'm not saying I agree with him being the GM in facts it's his biggest failure thus far. My point is it's wrong to compare him to other owners who were just business guys. Jerry has a football back round and "believes" he knows better.

His record shows he clearly doesn't and he's not very good at it

JJ's sometime forgets this is the NFL and not minor league recreational football.

JJ's comments also confirm there will be NO change from the status quo and what ever coach they bring in will be micro managed. So they will probably not get a good quality coach because no good quality coach wants to be micro managed.

Jerry probably believes the Cowboys is the most valuable sports organization in the world because he also served as the GM.

And the Cowboys have not won anything in the past 24 years; because he was stretched too thin to also serve as the full-time coach.

He looks like an alcoholic. :omg:
Lol. He's getting uglier but until I have 3 sb rings and make the money he does, I will keep my mouth shut and let these guys battle it out. Jerry paid Troy a crapload of money so he could buy that big stinkin ranch he purchased. Not sure he still owns it but there ya go. Troy will be Troy and Jerry isn't going to change his role with the team....win or lose.

You act like Jerry has always been filthy rich and doesn't remember a time when he couldn't have things he wanted. How bush league of you to talk about "rich people" with blanket statements as if we all think alike.

humblebrag?

Because they need access to the team to do their job and dont want to bite the hand that feeds them.

When rich people "want something" they have no concept of not getting or why they wouldn't. The rest of us understand that just because we "want something" doesn't mean that's the best or most logical thing to attain our longterm goals. Jerry is the single greatest reason for ALL of the Cowboys issues.

Which is why we're screwed.

Jerry would much rather lose like this than win like that.

So your saying that the gm that has not won a Superbowl in 23 years, err........hasn't won an NFCCG in 23 years, err.......hasn't been in an NFCCG in 23 years is doing a great job? Ok gotcha.

Jerry's way has produced a lot of income. But other than the Jimmy era, not a lot of wins. Seems he's gleaned nothing from that.

Since Jimmy was fired the Cowboys have gone into a 25 year drought (ya ya 1995) especially when it comes to big games! Way too many times the Cowboys have blown it in big game situations and a lot of that comes from coaching and being totally prepared and Jimmy Johnson was a master at doing that but since then the Cowboys have done a great job of choking and I mean a great job probably better than any other team in the league.
