Are you insinuating I am giving him a pass? That's idiotic.

But the fact remains it wasn't Jerry who made Garrett and his staff botch the end of the Vikings game......... or make numerous mistakes in the most recent game Aikman called on TV where he OPENLY criticized some coaching mistakes.
I’m not defending our coaching performances. I’m taking a broader appeal.

I think he honestly could succeed his mentor Saban at Alabama and crush it
He would be buzzard bait in short order. The standard is so high there that very good is still a fireable offense. (they only fire you after they massacre you)

The problem is he is a poor coach on Sunday.

He'll do and say the right things to the players and media.

So he'll create a perception of something he is not which is a good coach because he's so good at those other things.

He's basically a great car salesman.

I want to beat Philly and make the playoffs.

But I also realize if that happens, there exists a very real possibility Jerry will be duped into thinking Garrett is close and a 3 to 5 year contract extension will be granted.
I think it’s more likely only a 1 or 2 year limited extension. Assuming Garrett doesn’t walk.

If Garrett truly has other options and his agent probably would have a good idea who might be interested, there's zero chance he takes a 1-2 year extension.

If Garrett ends up back here on a 1 or 2 year deal, that tells you all you need to know about what the market thinks of him (in other words, directly refute the claims by Jerry that Garrett is so good he'd be snapped up in a second).

I think people who believe they understand what it takes to be a HC especially with medling jerry and his lip puckering cronies, think they know how hard it is to operate under these circumstances.

Fixed it for you :D

I look at Jerry's meddling as an excuse at this point.

The guy has had some fantastic rosters to work with and Jerry's meddling wasn't the reason our game plans were so bland and basic on Sunday's outside of the fact that Jerry hired Garrett and has forced him on this franchise for a decade.

Robert Kraft may not be a meddling owner but they have had some problems in NE but they always seem to overcome whatever is thrown at them because on game day they have an edge.

Dallas has no edge. We do what we do and if it works great if not then take the L and move on.

Garrett has had every opportunity and he has failed. Jerry is just an excuse for fans to bring out their inner Dale Hansen and ignore the terrible game day coaching this team has suffered with for a decade.

Setting aside some of the silliness posted here, the issue with Garrett is he's had the same job for almost 10 years and hasn't been able to achieve the ultimate goal.

At some point, both the employer and employee need a change of scenery. If JG falls short again this season it will be that point.

I don't think he can sell Garrett again.

The masses will lose interest in the Cowboys if he hires Garrett back.

I think this is the elephant in the room. If you make the playoffs, do ok..even get to the NFCC..are people going to be excited to do this roller coaster again? It weighs on players, etc. Shouldn't you just cut bait?

I think most of us on this forum are past the point of just being a casual Cowboy fans. We all follow this team a little more closely to the point that it's kind of a small side hobby during the week.

It's just gotten to the point on gamedays where I do not look forward to the games at all and while I do have the Cowboys game on I find myself browsing the web instead of actually watching the games.

They bore me. This act is stale and hard to watch.

It's like i've seen this show a 100 times and i'm ready to watch something new.

I’d probably agree with this. I’m still not sure if Garrett will survive. I’m leaning towards not.

I still watch intently but I don't get as excited when they win or lose.

Garrett might be a good coach, but he's not a good HEAD COACH.

Agreed. Nobody is saying he’s a bad guy. I actually credit him a lot with changing the culture of this team for the positive. Coming from the Dave campos and wade phillips where this team was personality wise.

but that doesn’t make him a good game manager. media can’t have it both ways. Say he’s a great guy.... but then rip him for his record.

I will say one thing . Who knows maybe he’s flourish not being under Jerry Jones. Then Jerry would look even more like an idiot

I believe that he is a phoney. Everything he does feels contrived. Seems like a weasel to me.
