Getting rid of Garrett is a no brainer.

The structural and cultural changes you talk about are desirable, but highly unlikely. All we can realistically hope for is that the right guy is hired who can handle Jerry on the one hand and maximize the talent on the team in the other.

It's not an east job, but I think the right hire can do it. We all have to hope so anyway.

Agree. Though I think the right guy would be a short timer...take us to the promised land and maybe last 3-4 years.

I dont see a new HC making much of a difference, unless he has a great defensive pedigree.

I'm all in on winning this year! Just get me to the NFC title game and be competitive.

Theres more then just the normal backlash that is wrong with Garrett and the coaches being not good enough it goes into how theyre preparing.

IDK if its pure laziness or theyre just plain stubborn in the weekly game planning, because it doesnt matter if they're playing the Jets or the Patriots the game plan is the exact same. Two very different teams with entirely different schemes and player talent, but Dallas is trying to force the same things on each. Put aside that both didnt work one because vs the Jets they were missing a ton of players, and vs the Patriots the weather played a big part. Put all that aside, the mere fact that these coaches would treat each game identical is mind boggling.

Then you go into what players of opposing teams and ex players say about Garrett. What i have heard consistently is he is a good leader of men, but not a good leader of players. Scandrick said that a few weeks ago. Then we have heard players like Canty, and Holly say Garrett sabatoged Phillips. But a player like Spears on that same team praises Garrett. This to me says that Garrett has his cliques of players he likes and will favor, but if you're not playing the way he wants then your outcasted.

The biggest thing for me about Garrett and these coaches is we hear time and time again that these coaches hardly ever agree with the scouts. So many times after the draft leaks comes out saying both sides were at odds about players. And to me you cant convince me that Brouddus wasnt the leaks to this, probably on purpose by scouts who were upset with coaches and told BB because they knew he would leak it.

So I dont see how you can keep JG. I dont think they will win the super bowl and i dont see how they keep JG without winning that. Does he even want to stay? The team has drug this mans name through the mud since that Vikings loss. His own family it was reported think its time for a change of scenery for him.

Adding on...Here is what I'm going to do because it's the less stressful of all options...cheer my tail off for the Cowboys to win it all. If JG can do it, then we all should be happy. That way there is no undercurrent of being pissed whether we win or lose. I'm not his biggest fan but why stress about his job when we are on CZ for a SB

I'll answer the question this way. If Jason Garrett is the Head Coach of the Cowboys after this season, I am done with the Cowboys until he is gone. I keep hearing my late father saying "Even a blind hog will find a damn acorn every once in a while."

Reaching your goal as a franchise 10% of the time is not a reason to keep the person at the helm.

This would be a great thread after we actually beat the Eagles and assure a playoff birth.

Anyone who wants Garrett gone bad enough to lose the Super Bowl needs to be checked into a mental health facility. If the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl he’ll be extended.

So, what would be your preference..? Make it farther than we have in the last couple decades, knowing Garrett ain't going anywhere, or having our usual late season disappointment, & going another direction as far as coaching goes, going forward..?

Which option results in fewer of these threads?

There is another option - Garrett could "go out on top" and take a Front Office position that pays more money for working one third of the hours. I've always thought this was Garrett's last year and that scenario was one of the options.

I don’t see that happening he wants to coach, he’s not that old. If the Cowboys were to somehow magically make it to the Super Bowl this season he’ll be back. He may only have to make it to the NFC title game to be extended.

Just curious to other fans' thoughts on a ridiculous hypothetical.

Would you want us to shock everybody, & get to the Super Bowl this year, assuming two things:

1. Losing in the SB

2. Garrett would be resigned for at least another 5yrs.

Honestly, I think the bar is lower. I think if somehow, some way, this team makes it TO the NFC Championship, Garrett will be resigned. Even with a humiliating loss. I believe JJ & Co. have pretty much telegraphed, that is the bar.

So, what would be your preference..? Make it farther than we have in the last couple decades, knowing Garrett ain't going anywhere, or having our usual late season disappointment, & going another direction as far as coaching goes, going forward..?

look the goal is to get to the sb but for us the hurdle has been getting to an NFCCG..if after this start we have had that happens, well im ok with keeping Garett as long as they fire a lot of assisitants..

particularly Oquinn, Marinelli and maybe KR..

KM could use another year of experience but that defensive scheme has to be changed and ST has been the worst of the phases..Does Richard alone improve our D without Marinelli or do they both go?

if NFCCG forces us with garett a few more years, ill live with it as long as the staff around him is changed and or overhauled..

There is zero chance we get to the SB with Garrett at the helm so the hypothesis is faulty to start with. Garrett has proven he is incapable of leading a team to even the NFC championship game much less the SB. When it gets to the playoffs, a team cannot get by on raw talent alone in this day in age. It takes a real coach to make a difference and Garrett has proven he has never been and will never be a real coach.

Can I give two answers?

1) My #1 want is to get to the SB and win. If he gets resigned...which he would, then it still doesn't guarantee anything. 2 years after that he could bottom out and be gone. But we would have a #6 SB and that is great!

2) I want him gone definitely and think we need a new approach so if we miss the playoffs or lose before the NFC Championship game, it's kind of a given. We've underachieved.

So if either happens I'm fine. The scenario I don't like is getting blown out in the NFC Championship Game and a resign because I still don't know what clarity you have.
clarity having his team not quit two years straight 2018 3-5 to the second round and going 6-7 to an NFCCG as WC upset, in mean its hard to fire a coach who just made progress..Id like to see Garett gone as anyone but ill be ok if he stays after a NFCCG loss but with the deal a lot of new Assistants and scheme overhaul on defense..

Bad

Thus, even if this team goes on a miraculous run and wins the Superbowl, I still don't want his contract renewed. I'm Garrett-fatigued, too much water under the bridge....so not even a great night of sex will remove my want of a divorce.
