Interesting...
I wonder if that's the player he's always been.

Pretty much, he's a 9 route guy or a comeback but almost everything with him is on the sideline. Rarely do they run him on slants or crosses. They have but its more of them rub/natural pick plays where he's open.

The other was a slant where he just pulled up, and Dak's sidearm throw was almost picked.

What did y'all think was going on for those plays?

I don't recall the first, but know the 2nd all too well. To me that was an absolutely great sidearm fling by Prescott, but I don't think Gallup saw it. But Gallup still should not have pulled up. At worse it should have just bounced off of him, not almost intercepted. A learning experience I hope.

Just watched some all-22 and saw up close two weird plays by Gallup, which were noticed during the game but made even more obvious watching them again.

One was a bomb to the right. Not particularly well thrown, but Gallup made no effort at all to adjust and get near the ball. If the safety coming over had bothered to look up, he'd have an easy pick because Gallup wouldn't have been there to contest.

Watching "game film" is a developed skill.

Most fans have difficultly "seeing" the actually spacing on deep passes.

3RD & 3 AT DAL 31(11:08)
(11:08) (Shotgun) D.Prescott pass incomplete deep right to M.Gallup.

Watch in slow motion and stop a the point the ball hits the ground.

It was farther in front of Gallup than it might appear at full speed.

1ST & 10 AT LA 19(02:01)
(2:01) (Shotgun) D.Prescott pass incomplete short left to M.Gallup.

There are two camera angles with the coaches film.
- The All-22 camera angle.
- The high endzone camera angle.

Watch the high endzone camera angle on this play in slow motion.

Gallup's reaction does "look" odd but he is looking back to see if it was going to be intercepted because it was too far in front of him to even lunge towards, especially because he couldn't see the ball until it cleared some linemen.

I agree on both counts, and I can we the spacing on the bomb and mentioned it was not a good pass. He still could have leaned into that one better, and there no doubt he pulled up before he looked to see about the pic on the slant.

That's nonsense on the long throw. I've rewatched it on all-22 also and that was all on Dak. Gallup would have needed two more gears and a super human vertical to get that ball. On the shorter throw, I just don't think Gallup thought the ball was coming his way. Not an excuse, just saying. He was in no real danger of being laid out so the "foot steps" thing is hyperbole.

Fold are putting words in my mouth.

Again, I'm not saying he had any hope to catch that ball on the bomb. It was a horrible pass. I just want a little more than a give up.

And I don't think he heard foot steps on the slant, but whether you think the ball is coming or not run through the route.

He didn't give up. He turned and was trying to find the ball that landed somewhere in Eastern Oklahoma.

I agree he needs to finish his routes. Not making excuses. In fact, I said that in my reply.

Just saying, I've rewatched it too and I politely disagree with your analysis.

I dont know what you mean by putting words in your mouth. Just responding to the thread.

I'll accept that. I can see perhaps he didn't find the ball, particularly since Dak's deep throws are almost always to the outside and out of bounds.

That was a really odd play. I think Gallup and Cooper like their balls placed differently and Dak seems to prefer to lay them outside, where Cooper like them. Honestly, I think there was just a tiny bit too much air under it because Dak threw off his back foot with horrible form. Otherwise, I think that's a touchdown.

I don’t remember the first one but the second one he never saw the ball coming to him. Dak threw it sidearmed and the OL and DL was blocking the ball the entire time. He probably didn’t see it until it was about to hit the ground.

first play, poor throw by dak. second play, gallup just lost sight of dak which is on gallup. he doesn't seem like someone to repeat mistakes.

I remember Aikman commenting he probably lost sight of Dak on the 2nd one.

Gallup, right now, is Terrence Williams. The sooner we understand that, the better off we'll all be.
Harsh but somewhat relevant.
I believed the same his first year, and thought that Gallup would surpass the TW comparisons, because Gallup had shown those moments of being so much better, but he has pretty much played himself back down to TW level comparisons at this point, but I will say that Gallup has a higher ceiling than TW.
Can say the same about others as well, LVE tops the list.
