How does the richest sports franchise on Earth settle for Keith O'Quinn?

Holding on to Garrett I can sort of rationalize because he's your pet project but why the loyalty to Keith O'Quinn? When you have an unlimited amount of funds to spend on the best special teams coach in the biz why do you settle for a lackey from the video/scouting department? The fact that this dude survived the entire season is the most perplexing thing about this year to me. This is what his unit produced yesterday -

- Illegal formation penalty on punt.

- Allowed a 34 yd KO return. Eagles start on PHI 34 yd line.
- Allowed a 21 yd KO return on a short KO. Eagles start on PHI 46 yd line.
- Allowed a 30 yd KO return. Eagles start on PHI 34 yd line.

- 38 yard punt from our 25 yd line. Eagles start on PHI 37 yd line.
- 30 yard punt from our 30 yd line. Eagles start on PHI 34 yd line.
- Punt into the EZ from our 44 yd line.
- 38 yard punt from our 28 yd line. Eagles start on PHI 34 yd line.

- 2nd quarter: Cobb 10 yard punt return with no defenders in his vicinity.

Chris Jones is battling a back injury and its weird knowing that they didnt sign another punter. I think O'quinn is getting help from phillip tanner also on special teams.

Won't matter a week from now. He'll be gone.

Yes but the complacent mentality will remain. I want to know why this is acceptable to them.

Most likely because garrett was a lame duck coach and jerry didnt want to pay a veteran st coach on a 3 year deal in that situation. Also maybe because they liked how Ben Bloom's group at linebacker turned out yesterday and he has a similar background.

The same way we can win three playoff games in a quarter of a century. We have what might be the most incompetent front office in sports history.

Gotta save money somewhere when you drop 250 million on a yacht. Simple economics.

.........Columbo is an OL coach in training. Marinelli should have retired after his debacle in Detroit. Richard is grossly overrated. The list goes on.

maybe this is true, but his coaching was good enough to give the quarterback excellent pass protection all season. He was inserted last year and since then the pass protection improved.

No idea what columbo's future holds but I think like many other players turned coaches in this league he is pretty good and will have a job next year somewhere. I bet he goes with garrett wherever he goes if he gets another job.

They didn't have to bring in a vet coach, they could have let O'Quinn go during the season and promoted Polk, Tanner, or even Judd Garrett. Why did they sit on their hands when it was obvious mid-way through the season that O'Quinn was on his way to producing the worst special teams unit in the league? They'll use an entire draft on special teams yet won't make this quick and necessary change?

No idea. Everything the front office does is confusing.

The Chargers, a team that doesn't even have fans, was willing to get rid of their offensive coordinator Whisenhunt, a coach with decades of experience, 2 months into the season yet we were forced to sit and watch a coffee boy from the scouting department destroy 1/3rd of our team for the entirety of the season.

We have no standards in this franchise anymore.

We have quite possibly the worst all-around coaching staff in the NFL, or at least very close, but what else is new? OQuinn is the worst ST coach I have seen, but Garrett is one of the worst head coaches I've seen, and we kept him for a decade. Linehan was a terrible OC, and it took all Jerry had to finally fire him. Marinelli should have already been given the boot. But Jerry puts feelings and "family" first. This is common knowledge.

Fans who think Jerry will clean house are sorely mistaken. Garrett will be gone, but that will wreck Jerry. He'll keep Rod if he doesn't retire, Kris will remain, and absolutely nothing will happen to Moore unless he is promoted to HC. The best we can hope for is Garrett and OQuinn to be gone.
