Terms of Endearment was an awful film. I can't believe how well it did. I found it to be a bunch of sappy babble and then they ..... [spoiler alert] ..... killed her off because they couldn't figure out how to end it. What a lousy movie.

That is a pretty solid list of movies there.

Had to think pretty hard to find 'em.

Movies I like:

Star Trek
Star Wars
Undercover Blues
Overboard
History of the World
Nothing to Lose
The Mummy(Brendan Fraser)
Lethal Weapon
Beverly Hills Cop
The Negotiator
The Ref
Maverick
Tombstone
In and Out
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
American Pie

Everyone has movies they didn't particularly like/get that everyone else just loved.

I'll give my top 1, Roma. That thing won awards and literally nothing happens in the movie. My wife wanted to watch it but kept asking if we should turn it off. I said something has to happen but nope, nothing. I guess I need gunfire, suspense or humor to really enjoy a movie. I'm not that deep.

I was shocked that Star Trek (2009) got some good reviews and sold a lot of tickets. I don't see it as "meh"; I find it awful. It's the worst big budget movie I've ever seen. IMO the writers totally failed to research the characters. In basically every scene, the characters behave out of character. Plus, the plot is stupid. They moved the Grand Canyon to Iowa and had Kirk crash a classic 20th Century car into it. What? Then Spock, who only mates once every 7 years has his hands all over Uhura, fondling her. What???? Then Kirk as a cadet commits gross insubordination, but then is promoted straight from cadet to captain. What??? The whole thing is a big, ridiculous mess and is an insult to Star Trek fans. IMO it should have a 0 score on Rotten Tomatoes and should have been universally panned in all reviews. That movie is so bad, I would rather watch Walmart security footage.

I liked it. I watched it for pure entertainment only. While I've always liked Star Trek, I've never been a trekkie, and don't pay attention to the details you're describing. I guess the newest movies are for non-trekkies?

I've never even heard of it!!!!

Seriously, though, I'm only interested in entertainment when watching movies. If I want intellectual involvement, I'll read a book.

The new set of movies branches off on a different timeline, and the butterfly effect can change everything, so the details he's talking about wouldn't necessarily pertain.
