That's just bass.ack.wards.

Every true Cowboys fan hopes for the best... the highest possible level of success... until the season is over and the fat lady has sung.

To want different is to be taking the game way too seriously (see above).

Not that that's uncommon. It's very common. But the game is entertainment, and that's all it should be. If you wouldn't wish Joe Schmo or Jane Shmae to lose his/her job in real life... well, this is real life for some people. Not us. But some people.

Not saying "Don't wish for it." Am saying "Wish for it only after all hope for success is extinguished."

why would u wish for what’s bad for the cowboys?

or is understanding how missing the playoffs is better a little too complicated for you?

maybe waving your Pom poms for one more win means more to u then what’s best for the team going forward?

Unfortunately for us the fanbase, Jerry is going to break all the rules and string the Garrett thing on well into the off season... You don't believe me, just sit back and watch.. Even though he will technically be without a contract that doesn't mean that Jerry won't be up to his old tricks and string it out a long as possible while great coaching candidates get snatched up.

Typical Jerry will start interviewing other coaches all the while being vague on whether or not he will retain the freckled puppet. During this mess, real coaches will get fed up and sign with someone else.
Garrett will sign with someone else before then. He's basically free to sign and Coach with anyone after the season. His contract expires at season's end. Garrett isn't so dumb that he doesn't know his time here is over. He's gone.

If it’s WC game and with the unknown, or fire JG, it’s fire JG. This team just isn’t good enough. I mean it would take a miracle to win the whole thing. The defense sucks.

So what if we make the playoffs? We are not contenders. He should be fired after we lose to whoever we host in round one. I don’t think we win Sunday anyway.

Does jerrah really have you believing the freckled puppet is in demand? Come on man.... No one is going to want him, his ego is too inflated for a guy who has done nothing.

Why is everyone so sure Garrett won't be resigned? I know it's popular opinion but......
How excited would you be for the 2020 season if the Cowboys get into the playoffs at 8-8 because the team you couldn’t beat when it mattered most lost their last game.

Then the Saints show up to Arlington with their HOF QB and embarrass this team one last time.

Then Garrett gets resigned for 3 more years.

Chances are your excitement level drops dramatically. Now multiply that by a million fans world wide. That is why Jerry will make a change and that reason alone. Jerry was selling a freshly painted Datson as a Ferrari. Problem is we saw the test drive and it was something short of a Ferrari.

I dont know about Lincoln Riley, what's the attraction...
He has taken average QB’s and turned them into #1 draft picks and Heisman contenders. Once they move on you see he gets most of the credit. He would make Dak look like Brady in his prime.

The knock on him is lack of NFL experience and poor defenses.

Not even close.

If Barry Switzer... Chan Gailey... whoever... was coaching, I'd still want a chance in the post season.

Good question, though, and thanks for asking.

It defines real fans from those who just use sports as an outlet to feel powerful and smarter than everyone else, ostensibly because they don't get to do that in any other part of their lives.

You just tried to be smarter than everybody else on a sports forum because according to you you can't do it anywhere else in your life.

Let it be over sooner rather than later.

I wish last week had been for the division title and we knew we were out and the season ends this Sunday.

Actually its the opposite bro.

My degree at UT is in Psychology and if you study "fan hood" not just in the US, but around the world, you notice that the "fanatics" (fans that cheer wildly for the laundry no matter what) typically have one common trait, that is they use their team as an emotional replacement.

You especially see this in Europe with soccer when not only opposing fans are assaulted but the referees as well if the home team loses. The "fanatics" that are diehard fans that paint their face and cheer and yell at the top of their lungs use sports as an emotional replacement. They live vicariously through the accomplishments of others, mainly the players on their favorite team. Studies have shown that when their team wins they actually have an increased level of endorphins released into their blood stream. Likewise, when their team loses, they take it as a personal defeat, and can become increasingly irritated and aggressive. Hence, the assaults on opposing players and referees I mentioned earlier. Fans that are not that emotionally involved in the game typically have other areas of their lives that they deem just as, if not more, important than the game, mainly their family, their career, ect...

So you see, you got it backwards. If you study the literature on the subject you would know that it is the die hard fans that are typically lacking in other areas of their lives and use sports as an avenue for emotional replacement. And if you think about it, this makes perfect sense. If you have a great family life, wife, kids, a great job, making decent money, do you really care that much if your favorite team wins or not? Are you going to go beat up the ref when your team loses? Obviously not.
Great post beast lol !
There was a wash fan (diehard??) who was going to beat up a cowboy fan after cowboys beat the skins in wash, and this was in a small food shop.
He wound up hitting the cowboy fan in the neck, and the guys carotid artery collapse and he died, and never heard, but I imagine he went to prison
for manslaughter, all over a stupid game! but it fits what you said about how they react. I imagine chemicals are released when the team loses,
much the same as endorphins when they win. And that affects their behavior, or just makes them 10 times worse than what they naturally are.

I hope not but it is possible.
I also read where Commanders might hire rivera or marvin lewis, and I just dont get why a team would hire either of them.
But I also dont get why someone would pay gruden 100 mil and a 10 year contract either.

Here's where Im at with this. I have wanted Garrett gone for probably the last 7-8 years, after his continual miss-management of this team.
Feel they are closer to making that a reality than at anytime in the last 10 years.
So.
I don't want anything to screw that up !
I will take the loss in this last game, or a very bad win, coupled with the Shegles winning against the Giants to win the division.
I want Jerry so embarrassed that there is no possible way he brings Garrett back, and is forced to make wholesale changes.
Plus if we were to lose, or at least not win the division - our draft position will be much better. If Jerry is embarrassed enough, which I believe he's close, hopefully several coaches, and coaching philosophies are jettisoned as well (Cough, cough - Marinelli).
As a fan, it goes against all logic to feel this way, but ****** this is where we are at.
Garrett must go !!!
I agree, jerry wants to keep clapper, so dont give him any reason to do that.

you talk like garrett needs the job for a living ! He probably has 30 million or more in the bank, he does not ever have to work again unless he wants to.
And sure it is entertainment, but with him as HC and marinelli, it is not entertaining to watch, it is like fingernails on a chalk board!
Some of us have had enough of JG and marinelli, and it is not possible to even enjoy a win with them running things.
