He is not talking about asking the players about Garrett. He is asking the players on what coach/direction he should go to for the next coach.

I mean no matter what is said people will think its stupid. I think its common sense to ask the players what went wrong and why they underachieved. That's what a smart organization would do anyway. Its really a non-story. I'm sure every team in the league does this but because its the Cowboys they can some how make it clickbait. Which it worked. Its gotten 3 pages and people are commenting on things that weren't even said in the video.

Exactly right

Jerry is searching far and wide for a reason to keep everything intact.

"I spoke with the players, and they believe they can get it done with Jason and this staff. I'm supporting them on that."

That's the story he wants to tell.

Anything else is an admission that he was wrong and a risk of losing his free ride as super meddler with no complaints from the head coach.

If he makes a change, and it works, then he is forever wrong. He'd rather not win at all than have to suffer through that humiliation.

Yep.... he'll do it with Garrett in the room.......then the players not wanting to hurt Garrett's feelings will respond positively...........then Jerry will announce that the team unanimously want to keep Garrett.... therefore there will be no coaching change and is signed to new 5 year contract.
