You think this season is going to end with the team, players and coaches being considered successful? Really?

Read your post again. You said if you throw for 5000 yards and end up 7-9 you end up not being considered successful

To which I replied, that's pretty much how this season is ending.

No way I even came close to hinting that this season would be considered a success

You started with “And yet”, which indicates that you disputed my comment.

OC On the Job Training got us out the playoffs. Epic failure and the wrong place for anointing the inexperienced into complex positions.

So— you think my theory is absurd. Well, you should look at some facts.

1. Dak has an outside chance to set THE ALL TIME franchise record for passing yards in a season. But we will finish no better than 8-8.

2. Dak can change play calls like Romo depending on the look he gets... AND HE THREW 44 TIMES on Sun. And we did not score one single TD. Do you not think it possible that maybe, just maybe— Dak wanted to be the guy to win the game and carry the team with a bum shoulder?

3. Follow the damn money. Dak and Kellen both stand to make millions of dollars if Dak produces as an elite QB and Kellen is the next wunderkind passing coordinator.

This is not rocket science. And it’s not a far fletched theory. Dak thinks highly enough of himself to ask for 40 million per year. You don’t think he came into this season dead set on proving to the world he is worth that investment?

How does he prove that if the offense revolves around Zeke and he is known as the “straw that stirs the drink” instead of Prescott? Lotta money on the line.

Not sure if i agree (have to give it more thought) but it does have some merit

I think it is a perfect summary of what happened this season. I have zero doubt that Dak wanted to "be the man" and get paid.. everything was about his narrative. Last week is the prime example.. no doubt he wanted to be the hero.. the man who went into the game injured and put the team on his back to victory.. plenty of evidence has been produced to show that Dak changes out of the run a lot during games..

I'm not sure if Moore was in on it or just too stupid/greedy himself to go along with it.

Dak is utter trash but he plays the marketing and self promotion game really well. Is best buddies with Zeke (bit like befriending the smartest kid in class) and has ridden him and the Oline to probably a multi year big contract.

Dak may win every statistical category in the NFL but he will never have true success.. he simply does not have the talent to lead this team against good defences committed to stopping the run.

Dak is utter trash? Really? Dak had his moments, but what a strongly worded moronic statement. Baby girl, it's okay.

And both contract years for Dak and Romo. See a pattern?

Romo had Garrett as a play caller and the talent level, particularly the pass blocking was garbage. Romo’s contract actually started forcing Garrett out of the play calling equation and actually led to Romo being given more control.

Callahan also coming that year and revamping the running game also contributed to Garrett starting to be be revoked if duties.

Two completely different situations...

IMO... I think Dak and his buddy Kellen Moore prioritized getting gaudy passing stats this year in order to strengthen Dak’s bargaining position.

Of course— they assumed the wins would flow if he threw the ball well.

So— they have tried to make this “Dak’s” team and have not relied as much on Zeke. We have won when we have run the ball well. That is who we are.

Instead of doing what is best for the team in 2019 and building this identity around Zeke— I believe Dak and Kellen wanted to showboat and showcase their “awesome” passing attack to leverage better contracts for themselves.

Speculation of course— and yet, human nature being inherent selfish, and the results and stats being what they are— I think this is the kind of “hero” ball that has sabotaged this season

We lost the Saints game pigheadedly running Zeke on first downs when passing was always working. The same in at least one more game, I think the Vikes.

You must be young or senile.. don't mind which. There used to be a time when this franchise actually.. you know.. won things. Like we would beat other teams in MEANINGFUL games.. you would tune in to watch each week with an expectation that we would play to a high level..

Dak is an average QB.. and yep he has moments but he will get his huge contract and we will not win a single meaningful thing with him as QB. I said it four years ago and it holds true. If Dak is playing in most other teams.. the guy would be cleaning out his locker never to be heard of again. He got handed the keys to a super jet and still failed to take off.

And, actually, its not ok. it is not ok that we have missed the playoffs. it is not ok that yet another season of our Oline, Zeke, Cooper, Cobb et al has been wasted. it is not ok that even when our defence turns the ball over on the 20 yard line.. we still have to settle for a FG. It is not ok that even against stacked boxes our QB misses wide open receivers. it is not ok that our QB hears footsteps and panics. it is not ok that we have not been to a championship game in a decade. NOTHING about this is ok.

Nobody's crowning Dak. But utter trash? I think not. Young, senile? Whatever gets you off. Cowboy fan since the 70s. Bet you not there young pup. If you are, are QBs like Dak a dime a dozen? You made a stupid comment, and I'm just responding to what you insinuate. With the QBs we've had, doesn't equate to normal reasoning. You'd take Danny? I like kids on keyboards, they're smart...

Dak was one yard short of Romo’s Passing record. That season we were also 8-8. Those statistics are not a reflection of the plan but of things not working as they should.

Funny how during the Rams game Dak kept killing plays to hand it off to Zeke...

Yep. And we won. Which is my point... why did this team abandon it's run first, Zeke-focused offense this year? My assertion is that Dak wanted to prove he was the man in order to land the contract of a lifetime, and Kellen wants to be the next wunderkind in a pass-happy NFL.

When we run and lean on Zeke-- shocking-- we win! When we get cute and try and throw it all over the yard-- we lose-- and look particularly poor on the road. In 2016-- we were road warriors and dominated teams on the ground with Zeke and an efficient, complimentary passing game that did not turn the ball over. Where did that offense and QB go?

Aikman even said during the broadcast today that Dak admitted to being distracted and focused on the contract this year. You don't have to believe that Dak and Kellen schemed up a more pass-focused offense-- I don't care. But instead of leaning on Zeke more (like the Rams and Skins game today)-- I think they chose to try and showcase Dak and that ultimately has played a part in the offense having an identity crisis.
