How much control did Parcells really have?

Certainly didn't get to pick where they held training camp or have a say in signing "The Player"

If jerry goes with a new hc I think it will be from within or an nfl coach.

Was Parcells the end all? Remember he wanted Merriman over Ware and had to be silenced.

And Parcells had alot of control. He ripped up the team. They had the #1 defense in the nfl and tore it up and built his defense. Thats alot of control.

Prediction: we get Urban Meyer and trade away our entire 2020 draft + Dak and Amari for Patrick Mahomes. We resign our folks and get a new DC to help out the defense. We roll out with Cobb, Gallup, and Devin Smith as our receivers. I assure you we will be 12-4 or better.

Do we need one?
I haven't been to this one yet. Just trying to keep up.

That said, the next coach is not getting Parcell's control. Nothing in Jerry's statements of the last couple of years indicate that he thinks anything is wrong with the way things are functioning. It's just that somehow, someway, those gosh darn results haven't turned out.

Think Einstein's definition of insanity... but we CAN rise above Garrett...

I see this being the best realistic option. For me the dream is Belichick but thats a hell of a dream that probably wont happen.

Yup. Belichick would get me over-the-moon excited. Anyone else won't seem that exciting knowing Jerry will be ready to neuter whoever it is, if they aren't already a puppet. Plus the fact that the rest of the garbage staff will likely remain...it better be one heck of a coach to turn around this clown show.

Jerry gives Meyer Parcell's control...

From your lips to God’s ears, @trickblue .. I think that Meyer could very well be the next Jimmy Johnson, and if Jerry is willing to make some sacrifices and swallow his ego, just for a few years, it will pay off in spades.

Do you think they’ll sign Dak and Amari to long term deals or keep them on the franchise and transition tags? I’m guessing that Meyer will want to rent them each for a year first to see if he wants them long term.

Forget that. The Cowboys second pick in the first round was Spears. Rodgers was still available. The Cowboys had an aging vet at QB in Bledsoe at the time. Not a franchise QB. It ended up working out anyway when Romo took over, but no one knew at the time. But hey, Rodgers should consider himself lucky. He would have 0 Super Bowls with Garrett as head coach.

Meyer is a success... anywhere he goes... but he is a dictator... maybe Jerry can give up control again...

Dak is a lock... I think Amari is unless Jerry thinks he can get one of those WRs from Clemson...

TO is a good point but picking training camp location seems a bit odd. Maybe some coaches are given that choice, but it seems like each team usually uses the same spot regardless of who is coaching. Could be wrong.
