Nothing earth shattering but something to discuss. Riley, Meyer, or Rhule. Looks like Rhule is lining up interviews already.

Meyer last coached the Buckeyes from 2012-18 and has been linked to the Cowboys ever since he said in October that Dallas would be his only NFL job of interest, but would he end his retirement and work for owner and general manager Jerry Jones?

"I can't speak for him, obviously," Meyer told Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports when asked about Riley being linked to the Cowboys. "I hate to even speculate because I don’t know him and that isn't fair. But to me, that's the one job in professional football where you kind of say, 'You got to go to that.'"

I don't know enough about Rhule but Riley is not ready for this job yet.
agreed. riley is a "sexy name" tied to oklahoma but i don't see a lot of skins on the wall to show he's ready for the cowboys job.

Believe it or not, being HC for the Dallas Cowboys will be a desired job.

Depends.

If Jerry insists on the control he has had for years, the pool of candidates shrinks significantly, ergo, the position is less desirable.

If Jerry realizes he needs to change his own ways, then we may have something.

I don't mind his lack of skins on the wall.

I just don't like how he calls games in a way that is very suited for the big 12 and not the NFL.

No regards for the defense what so ever.

His play designs are some of the best i've seen though. He's brilliant in that department.

Rhule will want control over his whole staff. It's what kept him from the NYJ last year.

And honestly, I would give it to him or any other coach we hire. Nobody on our staff should be considered safe. Our defensive scheme is garbage, our offense is uninspiring and our special teams are the worst unit in the league.

well whoever comes in next - they should have that ability. anything short of that and we're just going to keep this groundhogs day alive and well.

Don’t speculate anything on Rhule.

He’s 100% going to the Giants. He’s a New Yorker and it’s his dream job

I do not want Riley. At all. The last thing this team needs is a coach that undervalues defense.

Rhule is definitely worth consideration as is Meyer. Either guy would bring a lot to the table... I would lean toward Rhule as Meyer’s health and penchant for turning a blind eye to character issues and quick exits are not appealing.

McCarthy would also be an interesting hire. Brings NFL experience, and an offensive/QB friendly scheme to Dallas and a refreshed hunger after taking some time off. If Payton and Belichik are off the table— and JJ wants to stay in the “proven NFL coaching” ranks— McCarthy would be a solid upgrade IMO

If Rhule (who i never even heard of until a few weeks ago) brings an entire staff that helps. When Jerry keeps hiring all the assistants it neuters the HC since everyone reports directly to Jerry and not the HC who brought him here.

I'm not sure who Meyer would have as his assistants. He has a ton of respect from anyone HE brings with him.

Due to my lack of knowledge about Rhule I am leaning towards Meyer. Something fascinates me about his reputation of excellence. He has become that guy who's word is treated as the gospel. Like Bill Billicek is.

Jerry likes Rhule. I think they met up during the OU-Baylor game in AT&T. Tough, hard nosed coach. A little old school.

Agree he's a dark horse.

Rhule is a darn good coach and would work hard, Meyer would just collect a pay check and run camp cupcake
