There's a debate on who they would take at #2.
To me, the best player in the draft, hands down, is DE Chase Young.
Just don't see how they could pass on him
But some say the top OT, Andrew Thomas, may be the target. If so, they don't need the 2nd pick as much....unless they want to trade down.

This is why I see them going with Thomas. Who does Young take over for? Obviously he would.

But you have

Kerrigan - Contract is up in 2020. But arguably is Mr. Commanders.
Sweat - 2019 first round pick.

I still like Thomas as their pick. They can draft him, flip Williams for a 1st or early 2nd. Swoop back and land an elite OLB and get the best LT in the draft.

I think Kerrigan would be allowed to leave if he didn't want to take a backup role (hard to see with his contract $)
The dude has been great for a decade, but it's the young kids show now. There's so much young talent that learned a lot the hard way this season, and grew a ton in the process (Haskins, Mclaurin, Sims Jr., Payne, Allen, Ion, Guice, etc)
There's lots of YOUNG talent on this team and it's their time to shine. Many were rookies this year but they have showed out well. The majority of this team is well under 25, and the future looks bright. Add Chase Young to that group and we're talking some serious talent. Also need CB help.. maybe a Byron Jones type along with a Hooper at TE and we'd really be cooking.

I get it
If they get the 2nd pick and want an OT, then they really must use Young as an asset somehow, and trade down some if possible. Even just 2-3 slots and they end up with the OT and a 2nd rounder. Much further they end up with a someone's future 1st while still getting the OT. Those top 2-3 pick just have some much value.
Just do not take the OT at 2. That would be a missed opportunity to cash in.

But man, passing on a freak like Young would be so hard to do. We're talking once in 7-10 year type player...or more.

I expect the skins and giants to continue to be bad the next 2 seasons. That's one thing going the cowboys way.

Since we are talking loss and draft picks, what is the difference in our pick between loss and win to Commanders?

Best I can tell is about 4-5 spots.

With a loss, we are looking at 15th pick...…..if we win, probably around 19-20 (assumes Philly wins)

If Philly loses and we win, then we go to playoffs and lowest possible pick is 21.

The Commanders could throw the game for 2 desirable draft picks but we would still lose!

Do players really care about draft picks that might mean they're helping their own potential replacement? And why would a player risk their position by playing bad intentionally?
I never used to hear about a team throwing a game so why now?
It would only prove the NFL is a sham like wrestling.
If the Commanders are going to throw the game then why watch football ever again?

They don't throw games and the players playing for their jobs will lose at the end.

It's likely, go hard for 3 quarters, just make sure you lose.

Example ; Giants Eagles a few weeks back. Giants up 17-3 at half and clicking. Didn't get a single first down the entire second half. NOT A TOUCHDOWN A FIRST DOWN

I think its laughable you are worried about others teams draft picks and somehow they getting a top player will have that big of effect on our team before they play a snap..

you do realize the NFL is loaded with talent and we have beat those teams before..the Commanders better get more then a great DE, they already have had great pass rushers and we continually beat them,..

I dont lose sleep thinking about their QB, Oline, RB, or WRs..i mean get great pass rusher but how about the back end? coverage?

lets let teams face each other with the new year ahead and see how that goes.. the Oh no we have to see them for 10yrs is so funny..

we had Dware for almost a decade , we win a SB? im pretty sure this kid is good but will he alone win a sb? nah I doubt it..

we have a great Oline for sometime full of high draft pics, we get to one NFCCG? NO..

see my point?
