Rhule will want control over his whole staff. It's what kept him from the NYJ last year.

And honestly, I would give it to him or any other coach we hire. Nobody on our staff should be considered safe. Our defensive scheme is garbage, our offense is uninspiring and our special teams are the worst unit in the league.

I don't believe staffing demands will stop Jerry from hiring Rhule. If anything, it may make it easier for Jerry to have a new coach with an established roster of assistant coaches at hand. The only dealbreaker with Jerry will be control over personnel. He will not yield control in the draft room.

I keep think about how Saban flamed out in Miami and worry about the college coach option.

Hope I am wrong if they go that rout.

Don’t speculate anything on Rhule.

He’s 100% going to the Giants. He’s a New Yorker and it’s his dream job
Rhule turned down the Jets. Geographic loyalty does not motivate Rhule apparently

Riley struggles to get his team ready for big games, he'd be perfect here.

My issue with Meyer is can him and Jerry co-exist with each other. I really don't know these are two big ego's

That’s the point though. This team needs somebody with the stones to tell Jerry to F off when he crosses the line.

If we don’t have that. The team will just continue to be dysfunctional, ultimately.

I would hire Matt Rhule over Meyer or Riley
Tell me more about Rule. I don’t know much about him.

Among other traits I like the fact that Meyer has coached all three phases of the game and knows them all as well as possible.

I do not want Riley. At all. The last thing this team needs is a coach that undervalues defense.

Rhule is definitely worth consideration as is Meyer. Either guy would bring a lot to the table... I would lean toward Rhule as Meyer’s health and penchant for turning a blind eye to character issues and quick exits are not appealing.

McCarthy would also be an interesting hire. Brings NFL experience, and an offensive/QB friendly scheme to Dallas and a refreshed hunger after taking some time off. If Payton and Belichik are off the table— and JJ wants to stay in the “proven NFL coaching” ranks— McCarthy would be a solid upgrade IMO
Riley doesn't undervalue defense. He's infuriated over it.

He just paid a Kings ransom to lure the defensive coordinator from Ohio State this year to start fixing it.

Riley inherited an OU team that fielded its worst defenses in school history for years under Mike Stoops and Mike Venables.

It got better this year, but needs more recruiting classes under the new DC.

Rhule to the Giants, he was their OL coach in 2012 before he went back to Temple as HC

Meyer to Cleveland. He's a Ohio native

We’re not getting Rhule. This situation isn’t the one for him. He would want more control than Jerruh is willing to give. Remember Rhule couldve been with the Jets last offense. The job was his to take but The Jets wanted to control Rhule and wouldn't let him build his own coaching staff. They tried to force an offensive coordinator on him, and Rhule wasn't having it so he told them to kick rocks

Believe it or not, being HC for the Dallas Cowboys will be a desired job.

Sure. And unlike Jimmy Johnson, the next head coach won't have a hard act to follow. He will be received like a liberating king. He could have full blown leprosy and there will be tears of joy at the sight of him.

I don't mind his lack of skins on the wall.

I just don't like how he calls games in a way that is very suited for the big 12 and not the NFL.

No regards for the defense what so ever.

His play designs are some of the best i've seen though. He's brilliant in that department.

I'm with you.
It will take the NFL DC's less than a year to figure out how to contain the offense, then what do you have!?

I’m predicting Rhule is going to the Giants, if they get him it’s a great hire.

Tell me more about Rule. I don’t know much about him.

Among other traits I like the fact that Meyer has coached all three phases of the game and knows them all as well as possible.

-Former Penn St LB.
-Came up through various college programs as an assistant on the D side starting in ‘98(Buffalo, UCLA, and then assistant head coach @W.Car)
-switched to OC of Temple in ‘08
-Coughlin hired him as Giants o-line coach in 2012
-The next year the Temple HC opened up after a 4-7 season
-Left Temple in ‘16 after back to back 10-4 seasons, conference champs, and ranked top 25
-Took over Baylor after they went 7-6 + in the midst of sexual assault scandal
-3 years later Baylor was on the brink of going to the top 4 college football playoff

Basically he’s a guy that has put in the work and come up through the ranks (and still only 44/45) and knows how to build a program and culture. That’s why he’s the #1 candidate to me...we all know this franchise’s issues isn’t talent, it’s getting the most out of the talent that is here. That’s where Rhule will shine imo.

Not to mention they're the only NFL team he's worked for in his career. Hard to imagine that not happening.

I doubt Meyer is dumb enough to take the Browns job. He's not desperate to coach. The only reason his name came up is because he mentioned the Cowboys when asked about it.

But if control is more important to him then any job becomes more attractive than Dallas.
