I doubt money matters
In the great scheme of things a coaches salary is pretty small, even the high paid ones
...and they don't even count against the cap! Not in my wildest dreams could I imagine salary being something that stops JJ from hiring a coach. That's just not the way he operates. People can accurately call him a lot of things, but cheap ain't one of them.

Jerry's not slow playing anything. He already knows who he wants, & probably already has a wink/nod in place. He has to jump through the league hoops first. He doesn't want to step on his winky with the Rooney rule, or disrespect JG publicly.

Jerry also isn't afraid to pay whatever it takes to get the coach he wants.

Jerry has a net worth of over $8 billion, that's billion with a b. The notion that paying a coach $2 million or $12 million matters is comical.

This is about Jerry's emotions. Letting JG go is hard for him, and being "comfortable" with the next coach is most important to him.
They've been really cheap in free agency. Stephen watches the purse closely.

It's not about the guaranteed money. It's about the power that goes with it. A well-paid coach isn't going to just tow the line for Jerry. He'll speak his mind publicly.

Jerry no likey.

Apparently, there is a local HS coach who has been away for the Christmas break and will be back in town later this week. Hasn't lost a game in 4 years and has the #1 offense and #1 defense in the conference. Stay tuned.

According to Helman, HS experience is beneficial to coaching in the NFL and makes you "innovative," or something equally stupid like that.

Steve Dennis suggested this last night. Said Billionaires always have a plan.

If that HS coach is Art Briles I’m all for it.

To take this job, you have to understand that you aren’t the lone voice or who the players ultimately are accountable to.

you also need to accept the owner has a 30 minute interview with the media outside the locker room postgame. Additionally, the owner and his son are on the radio discussing this week’s game each and every week.

All of this likely limits the candidates.
