Why can't Jerry just be Garrett's BFF outside of work? That goes for all the loser coaches he's brought in. Invite them all to your stupid suite for every game if it makes you feel better, just keep them away from the sidelines.

Of course it matters. New coach search needs to start right away as well as planning for next season.
There is no legitimate reason to drag it out. No other team does this.

He has agents for Dak, Jones and Cooper (plus plenty more) banging down his door.. he probably knows that we need a lot of help on defence.. our draft position is weak and media is jumping all over every decision as being wrong. He has to face that his famous "jerry calls" have all, bar none, failed. This is a man that is used to success and now everything is failing around him. I don't care what face he puts to the media.. he is just like every other fan.. he knows this season is failure.

Right now he knows that Garrett has to go but it is like firing your own son.. it will be gutwrenching for them all and you have the media just waiting and waiting. He knows he has to pay Dak but is also aware that the dude just may not have it and he will be judged. I don't think he is enjoying this one bit. I really don't. I think Jerry wanted to be parading around with his wonderkid QB Dak, his HOF coach Garrett and preparing for playoffs and superbowls. I am fearful he won't have the guts to follow through but I do believe Jerry knows what he has to do now.

It should be a lesson to NEVER hire anyone he has close family ties to ever again. It makes Jerry irrational (or should I say more irrational?) when making evaluations at the end of each season. It is also why you see Jerry make statements like the one in my signature and the one about "training Garrett" from 5-6 years ago. Jerry is looking at Garrett like we look at one of our own kids who just had a very bad game or is bad in a sport in general. We all tend to have rose colored glasses when looking at our own children when they fail and always find a bright side. From now on Jerry needs to only hire people for which he can make rational evaluations. Had that been the case with Garrett he would have been canned after the third 8-8 season.

I can't seem to recall any recent head coaches who were told they wouldn't be re-signed. Seems like most of them have a forced termination or a forced resignation before that can happen. Am I forgetting some obvious names?
