Why would they set a date of January 14 way back when?
did they just assume no Super Bowl?
did they just assume no Super Bowl?
Everyone being so up in arms he hasn’t been “fired” is silly.
There is no reason to keep JG on the team through the 14th. One would think Jerry would want to make a decision as quickly as possible for the team and JG.
Waiting till the 14th would make it almost impossible for JG to get another job as an HC this season if that is what he wants.
His contract expires in 14 days and the most likely scenario is that it simply isn’t renewed. We save no money by terminating him over the next two weeks. None of that prevents us from interviewing and hiring someone else prior to that.
Im surprised this fairly straight forward and obvious information is being so overlooked by fans and the media a like. Everyone being so up in arms he hasn’t been “fired” is silly.

Sure, let's wait 15 more days before we actually start interviewing head coaches. That seems smart.
Unless the goal is an existing head coach of a playoff team.
I think the new hire will be awhileI would imagine the announcement and new hire will all be done between Thursday and next Monday.
I think some fans view this as if there should be vengeance taken on Garrett, and to them firing would represent that. It's a silly notion, because changing coaches isn't about vengeance, it's simply about trying to improve the talent in the head coaching position. His contract expires in 14 days and the most likely scenario is that it simply isn’t renewed. Vengeance doesn't make a difference, but that's what some fans are seeking. Yes, we all want to see improvement, but we also have to think through how that works. It doesn't have to work where Garrett is fired the second after the season is over. There is no harm being done by not doing that.Vengeance or not...THAT is exactly what they want. What difference does "vengeance" make? It's simply a little frustration at the non-standard length of tenure Garret was given.
At the end of the day...these fans you are ridiculing...want the same thing as you....improving the team.
