It’s too big to be realistic, but Bill’s a big enough name to justify backing Jerry off for a few years. He’d let Jerry stick it to Kraft. And Parcells probably has said enough good things about the Joneses that I don’t think that marriage is all that crazy if Jerry dies agree to back off. If Bill’s deal really is year to year, with Brady’s play declining and Dak in place, I think Dallas would be an attractive option for Bill. It’s the biggest job in the league, by a mile. The only issue is Jerrys ego. Which is why it won’t happen.

BB would never work for an owner that spoke to the media after every game and had a weekly radio spot....among the other things.

I just can’t envision JJ backing off to that degree. He doesn’t have it in him. I’ll gladly eat crow if proven wrong...I just can’t see it.

Add in the fact that it’s no secret that BB has also had one eye on the Giants. His still has a very strong connection to that organization...couldn’t see him coaching for a division rival.

They're wrong. His contract is year to year
And where are you seeing this? Belicheck and the Patriots have not disclosed his contract details since 2013. I can't find anything on year to year contracts. The closest thing I could find was that he's signed through 2021. A couple of others speculated that he's signed through a predetermined year of retirement. Quite a few expressed that he has no interest in coaching any other team with one saying if he did leave the Patriots the only other team he would be interested in would be the Giants!

With the latest revelation regarding Jerry not worried about other teams quickly moving forward on interviews [and the Cowboys not making any moves yet], and Jerry also saying other teams can interview any or all the names out there and he doesn't care one bit... I think it truly could be Bill Belichick that Jerry's targeting - post playoffs of course. And honestly I could see the Patriots losing to the Titans this weekend if the Titans get Derrick Henry and the ground game going. Bill is THE biggest name possible. He would instantly elevate this team on his coaching alone. He'd have most of the control he wants. And a new challenge with THE premier team/brand in the entire NFL. Add to the fact there has been lots of speculation about Tom Brady leaving the Patriots after this season - why not try and see what you could do with a solid foundation of Dak, Zeke and a solid o-line? Finally - hasn't the Patriots' post Bill Belichick succession plan been Josh McDaniels all along? We get Bill, Patriots keep Josh McDaniels, and everyone's happy.
No way Jerry is gonna give up draft picks for Belichick or Sean Payton. Thats what it would take and he is too dam stubborn to let those picks go. He would rather sign Garrett for another 2 years.

Everyone said the same thing about Parcells...until he took the job and said it was a good working relationship.

He is almost 70 years old ......... what makes you think he wants to come to work for the most meddling owner in the league in his last few years.
didn't even think of age but yea, even if he wanted to, what would be the point? bill and urban would both be 2-3 year solutions. bill has asked about the role before but those where in younger times. i don't think he's really worried about jones meddling.

i think the tell tale sign is letting go of all the assistants (most of 'em) and that clears the way for whoever gets hired to bring in his own peeps.

i'm still going rhule at this point.

Perfect, he can coach for 3-4 years while Garrett gets further training and then Garrett will come back to give it another go!

Bill Belichick, would never, not in a million years, not for a billion dollars, work for Jerry Jones.

Why not? I don't think I have time to answer that.

Well, other than he's under contract with another team and he and Jerry wouldn't get along through a cup of coffee.............I dunno

Belichick would demand a level of absolute power that would make Jimmy Johnson look like Jason Garrett.

I don't know how Jerry gets over that hurdle, but if he could somehow concede that and give Belichick the biggest contract of all time... maybe? LOL

BB isn't leaving NE for the Cowboys.

Good grief.
I can see him doing it, especially if NE doesn't resolve the QB issue after this season. I don't really see how NE is a better gig than Dallas, if NE isn't good.

Belichick might just retire and go yell at neighborhood kids to stop looking at his petunias.
