I still don’t get why fans are in such a dang rush....why?
If Garrett packed up his office today and left, Jerry might still not name a new coach till after the super bowl or late February. Who cares?
A couple of reasons. First, if Jerry likes JG so much it allows Jason to work on his next position. Some have said it is poor form to interview candidates when you haven't fired the incumbent...the flip side of that coin is also true, it is poor form to interview for a job while you have one. I understand it is done all them time but some companies will not consider those people. There may be a gentleman's agreement already in place but it's something to consider. More importantly, good candidates for the HC job are good candidates for a reason and are usually on everyone's radar. It is unreasonable to say to someone interested in a HC job to say "You are my guy. Sit tight for a while so I can bend over backwards for the guy I am going to let walk. I'll call you." Do you expect them to tell everyone else on the planet they aren't interested in their opening and risk sitting in a room with Jerry for a few hours and coming to the realization that they don't want to work for him?
If you are going to make the change...MAKE IT! Basically, remember the old saying about doing something of getting off the pot.
