No matter what happens the stadium will sell out and merch will still fly off the shelves.

Or like me with no hope releasing Garrett really resolves our issues with Jerry.

Yep and I have been saying that for years. Jerry likes a specific type of coach. I have zero faith he hires the right coach to get this franchise over the hump.

Yep, it is still the most valuable franchise on the planet. What does that tell you, the most valuable franchise and it hasn't even sniffed a championship in nearly two and a half decades.

If Jerry is stuck then it is his hardship and his rock. I highly doubt there is anywhere close to 10% in support of retaining Garrett. It is likely just one reluctant individual that is having issues with moving forward.

But he is the one that counts!

Question, what makes this a hard decision? Like employee, ten years of bad production (SMH), fire said employee (eight years ago).

I get the frustration of waiting
But if jerry wanted to keep Garrett he knew a year ago he could extend him and coming off a better season
Seems like the fact he didn’t shows he plans on moving on
Now I’m sure jerry thought he was playing Jedi mind tricks and turning Garrett into a great coach but it failed
I’m hoping he’s either playing it out for media coverage or being as respectful as he can
He and jimmy were friends but Garrett is like his science project
He built the perfect coach, or so he thought

Then don't say that you have expectations like going deep in the playoffs for this coaching staff. They couldn't even make the playoffs with a healthy team in a garbage division, while the Eagles got in with 10x the injuries we did.

So how the hell are you going to sell bringing him back another year?

If he's back I'm done. I'm not kidding. Makes my blood boil that that useless back stabber is still here after wasting Romo's career and the first half of Daks.

He had the chance to extend Jason Garrett beyond this year previously but he used this year as a prove it season and Garrett came up with an 8-8 missing the playoffs. Regardless of any emotional feelings Jerry may have towards Jason, the bottom line the Dallas Cowboys are a business that is failing. Jerry has to realize that winning puts butts in the seats and Garrett had almost 10 seasons to accomplish winning....and failed repeatedly.
Time to end this charade and move on.

All these ultimatums and the prove it season will all be complete and utter nonsense if he doesn't follow through now. It would be Jerrys most obvious con job and I personally will lose any of the remaining faith I have in the organization.

It's really not that deep. You move on from a coach who has not been consistent, underachieved and has not reached the level of success you're seeking

Jerry knows Garrett is a terrible coach. But Jerry desperately wanted to groom a guy he had since a young player and could tout how great he is at finding him. He has doubled down and digging even deeper in this position in backing Jason. He could have easily fired him after three straight 8-8 seasons in 2013 and no one would have batted an eye. I mean up to that point, 3 years was usually the lifespan of a Cowboys coach aside from Jimmy (who didn't last a lot longer). Jason lost 3 straight NFC East defacto championship games that would have netted home playoff games. If not those years, he should have 100% been fired and the rest of the staff for how they dealt with the injury of Romo in 2015.

But Jason did just enough not to get fired this decade. He skated by without progressing at all. It's a real easy decision. Only 3 playoff appearances and never consecutive appearances. Wasted 12 and 13 win seasons with quick outs.

Jerry KNOWS that 90 percent of the fans and the Dallas media wants Garrett gone. I THINK that Jerry ALSO BELIEVES that not retaining Garrett is the wrong thing to do. (His view not necessarily mine).

So do you let a guy walk knowing (in his mind) it’s the wrong play and placate the masses, or do you keep Garrett knowing that the fans are going to “nut out” and that the media is going to be on Garrett for the entire next year bashing the club at every turn?

I think Jerry sees this as a no win proposition.

What Jerry might do is “go rogue” and say hey, I think this is the wrong play, but I’m doing this solely for the media and the fans. Wouldn’t that be an interesting turn of events?

That way if Garrett succeeds somewhere else he can stick it to the Dallas media. Interesting. Very interesting.
Man it just keeps getting better and better. I hope Jerry keeps his trap shut about it until the 14th. This stuff is just too good.

I'm confident that's going to happen. And I like your approach to it - a simple, fact based comment rather than coming from the misplaced anger and need to fabricate a fantasy grudge that we see from some.
Garrett looked at me wrong through the TV

This really isn't Rocket Science people. Jerry and his love for the horrid Garrett is such that he respectfully doesn't want to fire Garrett on New Years Eve. Probably not on New Years Day either. So the announcement will come either tomorrow or Thursday and that will be that.
