Who cares. Del Rio is a fine coach, but big deal. How did he do with Raiders and Jags? He got his butt fired just like everyone is clamoring to happen to JG. Only thing gonna improve the Commanders is if Haskins can become a real QB. Is Rivera a QB whisperer? Newton never improved. He had one amazing season and has been an inconsistent passer his entire career. What has Rivera done>???? Oh, he has had 6 losing seasons in 9 years, thats what hes done.

I think these are good hires. Not spectacular but good. The Commanders need stability, something we need. They need to get back to basics and build a strong foundation rather than a flashy foundation, like we need to do. That defense is stacked, and it's likely they're going to get Chase Young. :(
That's why they're focusing on defense. We'd better beef up on the offensive line, and Dak better get more accurate because the Skins are coming. They won't be two easy wins any more.

Not impressed with Rivera. Had a potentially great QB, but never did anything to protect him.

It’s a shame that Cam never had a decent line in front of him. It appeared that Rivera cared more about the DL and neglected the OL

only way skins are coming is if haskins ends up being a good pick.

I know they’re the Skins but with a top 2 pick, above average coaches, and decent talent on the team already they could be surprisingly make some noise next season. Not SB though.

They have the pieces for a good defense, and with Cincinnati likely to pick Burrow, the Skins are in the cat bird's seat to pick Young.

Strong moves being made on the coaching front in Washington. We'll see how they handle the front office. If they land Louis Riddick or another respected front office person, I will be sick to my stomach.

For anyone that wasn't a fan of Ron Rivera, here is his head coaching record 2011-2019 with the Carolina Panthers:

9 Seasons 76 wins 63 losses 1 tie .546 winning %

7 playoff games 3 wins 4 losses

2014 Made Divisional Playoff Round (Lost to Seattle who made the Super Bowl)

2015 Made Super Bowl (Lost to Denver)

Compare his record with Jason Garrett's head coaching record from 2010-2019 with the Dallas Cowboys:

9-1/2 Seasons 85 wins 67 losses .559 winning %

5 playoff games 2 wins 3 losses

2014 Made Divisional Playoff Round (Lost to Green Bay)

2018 Made Divisional Playoff Round (Lost to Los Angeles Rams who made the Super Bowl)

While Garrett has more total wins, he made less playoff games and could never get the team to the big game. In addition, Ron Rivera has a reputation of being a disciplinarian which Dallas has not seen since Jimmy Johnson was head coach.

I would have been extremely happy w this combo, and somehow I got the feeling I was in the minority there.

That said, other than going in exactly this direction, I dont understand the lack of patience.

Most of the candidates are still coaching, and if he is going in the college direction, do you really think he hasn't spoken to those guys as of yet?

Theres no one that's a candidate that we are gonna lose out on because you arent hearing of it being official.

Seems like the majority of you want Belichick, yet you want to be told this TODAY

and being a "disciplinarian," helped him how? He got to the big game... this is laughable to me. Did he coach better in that one season that they got to the big game? He got to the big game for the same reason most all other coaches not named Billy Boy get to the big game..... his qb play was stellar. Cam Newton was the league MVP. Give JG a league MVP playing qb, and he just might get to the big game.

The closest he ever had to an MVP QB season was the game we lost at Lambeau , and our team was good enough to make it to the SB that year. Not JG fault Murray didnt have any burst and fumbled a for sure TD run if that was Zeke.

Im not clamoring for JG to stay any longer, but trying to say Rivera would somehow improve us, is a JOKE to me.

So he is stoic on the sidelines... you think that helps players play better? He doesnt clap/....... damn, thats got to be worth an extra 3 points right there. He is a "Disciplinarian?" damn, he sure was tough on Cam...lol

Every year 6,7, 8 guys get canned, and the next football guru comes to town. Of those new coaches, 80% of those guys end up sucking......... unless, they get the QB in the draft from the teams crappy record the year they hired said new coach.

Hey, how is Matt up in Detroit doing?

Riveria has had 3 winning seasons in 9 years. Garrett has had 4. Riveria has had 6 losing seasons, Garrett has had 1. Riveria has a 3-4 playoff record with a Super Bowl appearence, Garrett is 2-3.

Del Rio has had some defensive success, but has had a top 10 defense 7 out of 16 years as a head coach or defensive coordinator.

Look, if you're panicing over these hires from a divisional rival, relax. Not a lot of consistent success and neither coach may actually be better than Garrett, lol.
