If you or I were Dak:

I’d consider taking a team friendly deal say three years at $25-Mill per fully guaranteed with stipulations that I had input on new coaches, scheme, and maybe adding a few quality free agents..

Or I’d test the market, refuse the tag, and demand Top Market Rate Dollars...

Truth is playing QB for Dallas is a dream job and I’d take even less than that.. I just thought maybe we can all give our own hypothetical scenarios if we were Dak. New fresh thread idea...

What would you ask for or do?

I would honestly move on from this dysfunctional organization, that is if winning a ring is important to him cause it will never happen here. Dak would flourish in a system with a real hc, a real gm, and real accountibility.

He could do that, sure. But would be leaving millions and millions of dollars on the table in terms of endorsements. No other QB role in the NFL comes with the marketing opportunities that come when you are the face of America's Team. Sacks of money tend to help people put on rose colored glasses when it comes to tolerating dysfunction.

I would say that being the Pats qb would its share of endorsements. Winning a ring is important to some players.

I'm sure that QB post has it's benefits as well-- and will come available in 2033 when the GOAT finally decides to hang em up lol

It might be locally driven, but I don't see any Brady ads. Dak is non-stop commercials.

If I were Dak I wouldn't have quit on the team with 5 games left to play.
If I were Dak I would realize that Jerry DID see how badly the quarterback play was this year, last year, and the year before.
If I were Dak I would realize that there is a reason the Cowboys cooled in contract negotiations, and that was because of his poor play.
If I were Dak I would get my head out of the clouds and get to work on improving my game- specifically trying to prepare so that in pressure situations I wouldn't choke and throw interceptions, terrible passes, or throw the ball into the ground on 4th down with the game hanging in the balance.
If I were Dak, I'd be happy with $15 million per year for a couple of years after the way he chokes.

It is my my understanding that a player cannot refuse a franchise tag. Either he plays under the franchise agreement or he sits out the season. He certainly cannot go elsewhere and play unless the team that signs him forks over 2 first round draft picks.

I think Dak is doing what is best for Dak. He took a gamble that he was much improved over the previous year and he won. Overall, I think his price tag went up even though he seemed to regress late in the season. If he had played the entire season like he did the first 10 games, he would get $40 million from someone. I am not saying this because I want to defend or support him, I just believe this is an objective view.

If I was Dak, I would evaluate myself as to whether the late season regression was because of injuries or something else. If I truly believed 2020 will be a better and more consistent year than 2019 then I would welcome teh franchise tag, play my butt off in 2019 and then ask for Jerry to open the vault.

But Dak also has to consider the rest of the team. With so many free agents what happens if Cooper and Cobb leave. Dak has to remember what it was like without Cooper. Is the OL breaking down? Is Jarwin up to a #1 TE role? Is Zeke going to take a step back in 2020? Dak needs to make sure his team is not going to let him down. If they do, he loses his bet when he takes the franchise tag.

If I was Dak, I would have accepted the generous offer that the FO made to him way back when. Rumors have it that it was in the vicinity of as much as up to $35 mil at the time. Now, there's like a good chance that he'll be a recipient of the franchise tag. All of those concerned would have saved a great deal of time and agonizing stress if it had been resolved, perhaps, seven or eight months ago. I think his agent did him disfavor with his stubborn advice.

That's some real insight there. You are clearly a real expert. You should call Dak and offer to help him.

"Now, see, interceptions are bad. Don't throw them. You want your passes to be...not terrible, ok? And if it's real important time in a game, that's when you need to NEVER throw an interception or a terrible pass.

How do you do that, you say? Well, see...umm...just don't".

I'm not sure who you feel is the best QB to ever play the game, but I'm pretty sure he threw an occasional interception and some terrible passes.

Y'all Dak-haters who ignore facts crack me up. You and Frozen ought to go start your own expansion team with all your groundless expertise.

The guy is a 4th round pick making 4th round money. He should do every endorsement he can. And so would you. If you say otherwise you are a damn liar. Dak should go get every nickel he can over the next 10 years and then retire without a worry in the world. We all would do the same.
Comparing him to Brady is ridiculous. Brady has his money and Giselle’s money. Geesh some of you guys are ridiculous.

If I was Dak, I'd sign a contract to stay here. I've got $100 that says he does. I expect he will sign a deal for $165 over 5 years.

And he will have say in how things run, if only unofficially, as a franchise QB often does.
