At first I thought I didn't want Riley or a young hotshot college coach.

But after facing the prospect of Garrett coming back, screw that. I'll take anyone. I just want to give a crap about the team again. Any new coach is a risk. Might as well go for the biggest payoff.

This bobby belt character is the kind of guy that would spread rumors like the seifert rumor which was from a realtor. I could see him being the guy making the tweet citing a source at ebby halliday George Seifert is buying a house here and will be the next coach of the cowboys.

There actually is a good chance he the recruits would be informed 8f promised by the coach
Not until he has signed a contract the the Cowboys.

They would not tell recruits "He might be taking another job".

lol.. ok, calm down.

I’ve already posted in other threads that I’d take Urban Meyer (at the college level) myself. I personally like the idea of Greg Norman also if we are going to get a NFL experienced coach.

That said, just because he has familiarity with the Jones doesn't mean much to me. Hell, how do you think ‘coaching trees’ are started? It’s not unusual for people to hire folks they know. As a matter of fact, it makes more sense than hiring someone you don’t know. Atleast, you’d have an idea of their philosophies and coaching in general. Sorry, I can’t hold that against the guy.

Once upon a time, Jerry also hired a close friend in Jimmy Johnson and most would agree that worked out well.

Sorry, I was hoping for a more comprehensive answer than.. “Riley hasn’t done sht”. Which is an absurd answer in and of itself. Next.

I am plenty calm I just don't see the attraction to Riley but I'll give you a more comprehensive answer, he's has lost in three straight bowl games to SEC teams. Couldn't beat Bama, 2 TD lead against Ugay and lost and blown out against LSU and two of those three were with Heisman trophy QB's that you mentioned. I call those big games. In other words, hasn't done sht. We will just have to disagree about familiarity with potential coaching replacement on a personal level being important. It's minimal in my opinion and job interviews can get you what you need on the philosophy. Jerry needs to hire someone that has had major success as a coach. If it's gonna be a college guy the Meyer is hands down the best option and it ain't close.....maybe Saban but I'm on the fence about him back in the NFL. If it's a guy with NFL experience..........I can't say I'm all that enamored with the current crop available. Would have been fine with Riviera and in fact I'm concerned that he's gonna get the skins turned around in a hurry. I'm on the fence about how well the Jerry/Jimmy situation worked out. We have 4-5 pretty good years but it's been a damn disaster ever since. Bottomline...Jerry needs to hire someone that knows how to win and has a pedigree of success and get the hell out of the way but we both know that ain't happening. So..................yeah it will probably be Riley.

Eh, these kids decommit all the time now. It's far more rare to find a top recruit who doesn't re-open his recruitment than one that does.

He's from Georgia. Probably just had the SEC bag man up the ante for him.

Very true and you can bet it's going on at Ugay and Bama and probably alot of others. NCAA just looking the other way.

"Someone's in the stable with Beeee-vo, someone's in the stable I seeeeee".....oh sorry....wrong school!!
Just a kid deciding to stay closer to home and he's seen something about OU that made him
uncomfortable and it's not necessarily about the football program. Could just be the vibe of that
campus and the people, (yeah or the vibe of the coach himself) or of the city and state. You got to go somewhere that's comfortable for you it's a
huge decision.

At least there's not speculation that he de-committed in order to become HC of the Cowboys.

There is ZERO possibility that the player knows that Riley is definitely leaving OU.

The other schools likely repeated 1000x that Riley is likely to leave and they probably put together a collage of media articles, tweets, etc. speculating that the Cowboys are going to hire Riley.

Even if the other schools didn't directly contact him, they can get the message to players in other ways...

You have become the CNN of the Cowboyszone.....

If you don't think this is big news...then you don't get it.....period:laugh:
