and some fans hoped to lose the division so Garrett would be canned............never use logic when trying to figure out Jethro's next move or mindset

I highly doubt it's to keep Garrett as HC. Logic points to it as an attempt to move Garrett to the front office.

This is what I think. I don’t think there is anyway they can bring him back and act like they seriously care about winning. They want him to stay in the family.

There’s certainly a difference between a “fan” and a “fair weather fan”.

As am I.

My wife's team is the Chiefs. I'll just watch those games with her if Garrett is back. When Garrett is gone, I'll start watching Dallas games again.

"Oh, you aren't a real fan, Tass!" Yes I am...just going to take a timeout from being emotionally invested in the team until such time as I feel good about it again.

If you love Star Wars movies but you know the next one has a crappy director, not going to see that episode doesn't mean you don't like Star Wars anymore. It just means you know that particular movie is going to suck with that director directing and you wait for the next one to get released.

I will become a Chiefs fan for the playoffs. Would like to see Reid finally win one.

Re the boys this is the first year I started to record games when I saw the conservative Garrett emerge , a too much of the don't look for the ball, keep your man in front on you,
never use the TE down the seam, Missed FG's, lousy special teams, poor punting ( add to the list)

I checked the score online, and then decided if I would just delete or watch... Fan since 60's so a major change for me

Even our total rebuild teams at times looked better than this.

I am with you man. I'm going to the Chiefs also. Even if they don't win this year I like their organization. Also fan of Cowboys for almost 50 years. Enough is enough. Jerry resigns JG and I am gone.

This is both a response to this thread, and it's own statement....

I'm hereby proposing a new board for the admins to consider...

I propose to call it "Irrelevant Loudmouth Media Zone."

All posts that pertain to media personalities who have no credibility beyond what any of the rest of us have, yet unlike the rest of us, get a media-contrived pulpit and get to earn a paycheck for doing so (... presumably a quite large one, but then again, since the rest of us get zero, anything they get represents an overpay... ) should be relegated/detoured to that new board.

So, this doesn't apply to people like a Shannon Sharpe or a Michael Irvin, who though a loudmouth by any measure, have actually participated in the game in some tangible way...

This also doesn't apply to someone like a Nick Eatman or a Tood Archer, who though not having actually participated in the game in some tangible way, are not employed by some media outlet for the exclusive reason that either is a loudmouth... which, in fact, neither are one anyhow.

Folks, I'm not even kidding. This is a real proposal, even as it is also specifically applicable to this thread. I hope it will be taken seriously. I've been around here for awhile now, and am not some unknown quantity, or worse, a known quantity known for posting specious assertions/questions/requests. Given all of the somewhat low-traffic boards that are featured here that could be judged as superfluous, this would be a very welcome and useful addition, at least from where I sit.

But maybe I'm oblivious, and there's a throng of folks who wait with baited breath for the next pontification from SB or SAS or their ilk. Who knows.

But even if there are other candidates you want to interview, there is no reason to not announce Garrett's fate now.

So if this drags out to next week, I think the odds are better than people think that Garrett is coming back.

You’re leaving the Jerry emotion out of it. I’m not particularly thrilled myself, but once the smoke clears Garrett will be out. They’ll have a press conference for him, peform a big send off. You would have thought he retired. But Jerry is that much emotionally invested. Remember Garrett was Jerry’s pet “coach in training” project. He’s emotionally struggling with the failure of the situation.

Relax. It will happen.

What’s it matter. The cash register will keep ringing. I’m glad I bought into America’s team.

I'll quote Elvis Presley:

"The only reason I'm doing these stupid movies is because they are supposed to be fun. If they cease to be fun I think I'll cease to be doing them!"

Exactly. If watching the games brings me no joy at all, why would I continue torturing myself? I know when to get out of an abusive relationship, y'all.

Jerry does the one thing he really values very right. DC revenue is almost twice the average NFL team and 50% more than second place. Crazy given the amount of revenue sharing. And highest value franchise every year.

He's succeeding at his goals. They just aren't the same as our goals.
Yep I do agree he's very good at marketing an established product..............my comments and opinions are related to his football side which is all I'm interested in.

Never thought I would see a billionaire family make the Clampetts look smart, but the Jones family has done just this.

There are probably fans who would say they're going to remain diehard Cowboys fans for life regardless of what happens and for how long. To you i say imagine if you tried that hard to be very (_______insert whatever you'd like), you probably would have succeeded by now. Meanwhile Jerry basically turned good old football fun into a nightmare and it still sells. Jerry wins, we lose, everytime.

Me too, which is why it's so frustrating to have him as the owner.

Aside: Must've not been paying much attention... virtually every Beverly Hillbillies episode was a demonstration that the Clampetts were smarter than Mr. Drysdale, Mr. Jones, and their lot. Not unlike Green Acres. Not unlike Petticoat Junction. :)

I said this the other day, Jerry is keeping Jason and he's just conditioning our mind that he will be back. Having all these meeting until it's a forgone conclusion that he'll be back, then sign him to a 2 year contract. Again, why have exit meetings with player that you're not going to coach next year.

I'm done if this happens.

I wouldn’t put it past Jerry to start paying these media lackeys behind the scenes. They are already playing the, Jerry is emotional and a good guy angle.

Start?

Jerry's primary focus is controlling media coverage. I'm sure he makes it in the interests of media guys to put out what he wants.
