Would you rather have Dak and an elite coach knowing that you will lose talents (from paying Dak) or have Jason Garrett and an elite QB (someone like Mahomes on a rookie contract) without losing any talents?

Edit: Re-editing the question

Neither because Garrett will never take us to a SB with an elite QB. Although I don't think Romo was elite he was top 10 and Garrett wasted him.

This is almost impossible to answer. If we're already establishing that Dak can't win a Super Bowl (I think he can), can we rely on Garrett to coach a team with an "elite" QB to a title? After all, I would argue Tony Romo was an elite QB and he never won one playing for Garrett.

If I had to pick one, I would go with Dak and an elite head coach. If Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, etc. can win Super Bowls, Dak can as long as the Cowboys build a championship-level team around him.

Agreed. It's more about Garrett. Although I agree Romo wasn't elite, I think he is the closest you'd get to it without being elite. I wouldn't mind another QB at his talent level. As much as he aggravated me at times.

Kind of a dumb question when you qualify it that Dak will never reach a Super Bowl even with the elite coach. Why would anyone choose that option? You’d have to choose Garrett with an elite QB and hope he can overcome having Garrett as the coach. Take the qualifier out and I choose Dak with an elite coach 10 out of 10 times.

Let say that this is Dak ceiling and no matter who coaches him, he will never be able to reach the Superbowl, much less win it.

In this scenario, would you rather have Dak and an elite head coach or Jason Garrett and an elite quarterback?
QB's no better than, or even worse than Dake have been to the Superbowl, so even if this is Dak's ceiling, he can reach the Super Bowl if he has a good team around him. It does take a little of the stars lining up right though.

Would you say JG is worst than Fisher? Fisher bought the 99-00 Titans to the Superbowl and they were less than a yard away from winning it all.

I don't think Tom Brady could have overcome Garrett as coach.

But if they pay him, they will lose more pieces surrounding him.

Nobody will ever pick the side in a hypothetical where you can't win a SB.

Would you rather have Belichick with Mahomes and you won't win a SB or take a chance with Richard Simmons as HC and Peter Dinklage at QB.

You take Dick and Peter.

I meant to say was because paying Dak mean the Cowboys will have less talent on the roster.

Neither nor, hopefully.

But if I was forced to choose: I'd take Garrett and an elite, 6'4" pure pocket passing, QB. Give me Garrett and Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow or Drew Lock.

Excellent question. Fisher rode that Super Bowl appearance to a longer stay in Tennessee than he deserved. Garrett never advanced past the divisional round. So I would give the edge to Fisher.

Well if you're saying there's no possible outcome where Dak can make the Super Bowl then obviously I'd choose Garrett as the coach with an elite QB because at least there's a remote possibility there.

serioyslu. What a weird question
