In the end all this will end up going down in the right way. JG is a Cowboy and he doesn’t need to be kicked to the curb like some bum even if we are going to move on. Only Coach Landry was here longer and he deserves some respect now that his tenure is over

Too unfortunate Jimmy Johnson did not receive the same considerations.

theres still some saying this is still a rumor because theres no confirmation form the Star...odd the media is split talking about it AGAIN as if it happened or hasn't happened..

I guess he finished say goodbye ie all the exit interviews finally complete and players were told by Garett hes gone? thats how it leaked?

why of the rest of the staff, whos still here and whos contract was up?

I wont believe it until a Jones sticks his head into a camera and says yes Garetts no longer our coach..
You might be waiting awhile.

im not waiting lol it will happen when it happens and really its 75% of this site who have giant egos and feel jerry owes them a quicker answer, he DOES NOT..

its happening so ill relax and still ALL the coaches on our short list are wide open for hire.. nothings happened at all the last 4 days to jeopardize our shot at the best candidate..

I totally agree. I was directing that to all the haters. I would have been ok with keeping JG and getting a real QB. Oops did I just say that?
I understand the frustration with Garrett. They feel 10 years was enough . And it’s a valid argument.

My support of Garrett revolves more around our limitations with Jerry’s agendas as much or more than Garretts ability.

I think we’d all like a greater HC. Based on evidence I’ve seen last 25 years I’m just not sold it’s a real possibility.

But the frustration begins with Jerry. And since he’s an immovable obstacle. Jason is next in line. I get it.

I guess that would be under the assumption Jerry will pursue the best candidate. Lol

85-67 is not what I’d describe as a crappy record . In fact it’s the 2nd winningest HC in Cowboys history. Yes, much like Landry is due to longer tenure but none the less his record speaks for itself.

But if your comparing Jason to his Cowboy recent peers as in Wade, Bill, Campo And Gailey then Garretts era wasn’t a total failure. It simply didn’t meet expectations. Which apparently we have become a championship or Bust franchise.
Not exactly. Technically, he (JG) had the 2nd most wins in franchise history. He wasn't the "2nd winningest HC". Barry Switzer has the highest win %. In fact, Garrett was middle of the pack as far as win % which, considering his longer tenure, is certainly a more honest representation of his performance.

Garrett was the definition of mediocre. While wins, & %'s tell part of the story, the playoff columns tell the rest of the story.

if you look at what Switzer(sb Johnson team full of HOF players) and Phillips(Parcells set the table) followed ie inherited a group that was set in motion to win now, they had different sitations..

garett inherited a 1-7 team mid season and went 7-1.. his tenure being longer and what he took over his win% was more credible..

I would take any of those coaches over Garrett and I mean any!

Yes he inherited a team that he was the OC for and he submarined the HC. You mean that team?

PFT can say what they want but the cat is out of the bag and people are confirming it....Jerry tries to put it back and it will be chaos.

thats a rumor fans throw around.. JG had to actually go through wholesale changes a few times as far as rosters go so again over 10years getting a 1-7 team to start with Romo out and Kitna in going 7-1 makes it bit more of data to judge him vs what the others did..

id say JG win% is more credible..

in no way does this mean I want him to remain but theres an argument to as why hes not as bad as coach as we ae making him out to be...

he simply couldn't take us the distance...

You say that rumor that the players that played in that time frame openly talk about? That rumor?

JG and credibility are like fire and ice.........the two do NOT mix.

Makes me mad as hell that they tried to keep him in the organization. It’s a gift from god that no agreement came to place.

This franchise is soooo close to full time joke mode. I’ve never heard the national media rave about our talent like they have this season. If we move forward with an abundantly talented roster with another joke of a coach then it’s full joke mode.
so what and who decides if the new coach is a "Joke?"
Here is the 2018 hires:
John Gruden Raiders
Mike Vrabel Titans
Matt Patricia Lions
Frank Reich Colts
Steve Wilks Cards
Matt Nagy Bears
Pat Shurmur Giants

Out of all those teams, only 1 made the playoffs. They have had 2 seasons. So which of these are still considered to be good hires? Which are a "Joke?"

Here is the 2017 new hires:
Doug Marone Jacksonville
Sean McDermott Bills
Vance Joseph Broncos
Anthony Lynn Chargers
Sean McVay Rams
Shanahan Niners

Of those coaches, its just like drafting 1st rd qbs. Just by the way the nfl works, a couple have to be succesful. What is different about the niners this year? The QB. Look at all those hires that essentially kept the same qb..... allof them still suck, Hell, maybe even worse. Matt Patricia... you know, coming from the "Patriot Way." Bahahahahhhahahhhahhaha. talk about a joke.Face it, our QB is middle of the pack, and thus we are middle of the pack. The difference between 8-8 and 11-5 is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO small. Here, could we just have easily beaten the Jets? Patriots? Saints? and had we, we would be 11-5. The year we went to GB and lost in the DEz catch game, we were 12-4 and just as easily could have been 8-8.

Hire whomever, wont really matter in the end if Dak is our longtime guy. If Dak plays well, we will be succesful. If Dak plays like this year, we will stay around 8-8, even if we had Bill Walsh wearing a Cowboys headset.

yet it has no credibility. because the players that spout it were spurned by the Cowboys. Holley a nobody JG refused to give a playbook to a reality tv wr (Jesse admit it) and was pissed about it.

5-3, not 7-1.

Then they got Tyron, got Romo healthy, and proceeded to go 8-8 for 3 straight years.

The guy sucks.
