Speaking of interceptions our #1 "shut down corner" if you wanna even call him that hasn't had an interception in TWO years how is that even possible and don't tell me they don't throw in his direction because other teams definitely do. How is that even possible no picks in two years? It may be time to move on from Byron Jones because whatever you pay him won't be worth the production!

For all those who state...we didn't beat any good teams, Dak sucks, why did we not score a TD in 3 games etc etc etc.

The fact that we tied with Arizona (5 wins) and Detroit (3 wins) for the least amount of interceptions in the league should give you an indication as to why we ended the season 8-8 and disappointed so many times this year.

This is an ongoing problem and just a completely baffling development from the self proclaimed "Purge Squad".

Start here when looking to place blame followed by the horrific special teams play that missed a million fgs, had horrific punting, and the worst starting field position in the league.

The real culprits.
Hard to get interceptions when your secondary doesn't even put up their hands when they're close that is when they're their close and not to mention the ones they drop that we're right in their hands or over running the play bike 6 miles I'd say you got pretty good point there

What's it going to be then, eh?

The type of pass defense this team has played... Well for years, just makes me irritable.

I haven't been happy with this team's pass defense since Mike Zimmer was here.
You are just angry we have not drafted a corner in the first round since Byron Jones.

You are experiencing withdrawal and it is coming out in your posts.

This is probably why I want Garrett gone more than anything. He didn’t put enough focus into good field position with better special teams and turnovers....that conservative play on defense was great for stats when it came to points allowed but did nothing to help this team.

"Dead last in interceptions, dead last in net punting, let's all complain about Dak & Zeke!" - CZ :muttley:
They both had their off games that added to the problem this season.

Where we pick in rnd one looks to be good spot for a safety or CB

Richard front and center and be recognized.

He has been a real disappointment to me.

Legion of Boom my butt.

Yes, Byron Jones finally found his home under Richard but others regressed badly.

Awuzie became a liability, Heath was never replaced, Woods regressed, establishing a zone defense that was anything more than a sieve never happened, using creative blitzes was a forgotten part of getting to QBs and run defense was again seen as invisible.

So I am ready to let him move on. He is very limited and we need defensive coaches critically for 2020.

That maybe a tall order.

Hmm..

I’m going to presume we were last or near last in TOs most of JGs tenure.
Not sure it matters if we have good CBs or not if none will ever make a play.
You’d think Jones would even accidentally get an errant throw or tipped ball or something.
Seriously not even sure how it’s possible to have as few INTs as he’s had. A stationary tackling dummy anywhere in the secondary would have more INTs.

Turnover differential is one of the strongest stats that correlates to winning.
Yes, and if our turnover differential is that costly then that means our offense has given it away too much, so maybe we should consider that before trying to deflect blame solely on the defense. (not you Direwolf)

I bet you we’ve been ranked at the bottom 5 for the last 5 years. Our corners suck at playing the ball...
