Am I the only one that thinks the way we’re handling this situation will turn away potential coaches? It’s a mess and not a hard decision to make and Jerry can’t do it (officially).
I don't know why a potential coach would give a rat's ___ whether Garrett was fired immediately after the season ended or if the team just let his contract expire in a couple of weeks. If anything it might be attractive to coaches to see the Cowboys aren't being harsh, but I don't really even think that.

This is bizarre.

No one saves face here. When the contract expires and is not renewed in 10 days, everyone and their mother will know that Garrett was essentially fired. There's no spin on that.
I know but I think Jerry may think I didn’t fit Garrett. I just did not renew his contract. I had job that was only for 18 months long and you knew that when you got hired. My boss basically told me we are not firing you. Your contract with us just ran out.

This is really an unprofessional way to deal with your coaching staff to just keep them in limbo like this.......but this is not a professonaly run organization to begin with.

To be honest, I am thinking a decision has been made (and the coaching staff knows everything) and they're just waiting to announce it to the media. So they're not really keeping anyone (on staff) in limbo...

I think they're just keeping the media in suspense...

I have to admit, I got caught up in it....

First of all, screw the exit interviews. If the person that wants to interview him is that close to him, text him and ask him to meet up or FaceTime him. No need to keep stalling to keep him in the building

2nd of all, no official firings yet? Seriously? Jerry might as well go ahead and sell AT&T Stadium and just make this cowboys team play in a circus tent with reinvented cowboys clown uniforms if he plans on running the organization like this.

Charles Robinson's tweet is right on the money:

This thing is a joke. And fans can lie to themselves all the way about 'no issues' with it. But the fact is that it show this organization for the disorganzied mess that it truly is. Where coaches and players twist in the wind, not getting resolutions to their futures at the whims of an egotistical madman.

Given how these guys and those in the past (hey Bill Callahan!) have been and are being treated, what self respecting assistant with options would choose this place iver other, normally-functioning organizations?

Poor public relations on the part of the team here. They're allowing the narrative to get away from them. In the wake of all the rumors, it would make sense for the team to issue some sort of statement, if only to indicate that no plans have been finalized as of yet, if that is indeed the case. To do otherwise makes the franchise look as disorganized and inept as many suspect it is.

Yup. Jerry doesn't even care about the other coaches and players, much less the fans. So long as the spotlight is on him.

And it's only like this because they don't want to fire him.

A very very selfish part of me, as an ACC college football fan, hopes the delay is until after the National Championship and he drags away Dabo from Clemson.

Yeah Jerry wish he could take back that statement of NFCCG or bust because the 2019 Cowboys were a bust now he has to stick to his word like a man/ or go back on his word and go with his heart. He put himself in a tough situation. This situation is only tough due to the fact that it's never only about football here, it's about being comfortable, nepotism, flash and no substance. Where else, in any sports, is there such hand wringing over a mediocre coach? Only in Dallas.

You would've thought that Garrett had the resume of Belicheck or something. Meanwhile in New England the G.O.A.T. QB doesn't know if he'll be back next year.

This whole bizarre situation reminds me of the story of the three-legged pig. When someone asked the farmer why the pig was missing a leg, the farmer replied: "I love him so dang much I couldn't bear to eat him all at once."

Do us all a favor, Jerruh and kill the dang pig!

To the contrary, they're exhibiting care for the reputation of the HC by letting the contract expire and getting a daily release of "No News Yet".

If they really want to exhibit care, they should declare that Garrett will not be retained so he can interview elsewhere. That wouldn't damage Garrett. Why is this so hard?

It was worse than a bust. We had a relatively healthy roster, and were only in the playoff hunt because we were in one of those once in 15 years down divisions where everyone else struggled. A normal season, where the division winner has 10 or 11 wins, we're out before December even starts. And we lost the division to a team that had people on the street playing WR, and their top target TE was out. We lost to the Jets because we couldn't do anything without Cooper.

Does Jerry even watch this team? Or have any self reflection?
