The glorious 37-10 and 44-21 games, just what exactly happened?

There have been numerous criticisms - Garrett's conservatism, Dak's flaws, Zeke no longer running like a rookie after he got that fat contract, poor special teams play, Awuzie's flaws, Cooper's injuries, bad this bad that.

But - there were clearly two games where the Cowboys were outstanding. They thrashed the Eagles 37-10 and the Rams 44-21.

So, what exactly was it that made everything go right in those games, and how do the Cowboys capture that essence and put it in a bottle? Because it was the same Clapper Garrett, the same Dak, the same Zeke, the same everything. Everyone was the same flawed old self. So what did they do exactly that made them shine in those two games where they failed everywhere else?

Consistent effort.
The cowboys lacked that big time.
To me that was the difference this year.
Before teams always played hard for Garrett
Game in and out.
Not this year.

Those games illustrate what the 2019 Cowboys were capable of. They could beat anybody in the league. But they were also so mistake prone and inconsistent they could lose to anybody as well.

It's Garrett football summed up perfectly. He is/was an 8-8 coach.

Turnovers.

In those games we saw how many points the offense was capable of scoring when NOT forced into god awful field position all game long.

In both games things went well from the start and both opponents did not counter to what we were doing. In most games either things don't get rolling early and by the time they do we are chasing the game, or opponents hit back quick at us and we do not respond...

Basically, it is coaching. We do not respond to well-coached teams, and we do not adjust during the game or at HT. again, Coaching

37-10 was really the only legit game we had all year. I'll repeat myself for the millionth time saying a QB can single handedly kill an offense and team and that GMs need to reinforce the notion that if your QB is playing as god awful as Bad Goff did that day then your job is very much on the line if you never considered benching the QB who's clearly underperforming that night.

We didn't have a slow start in those games, which was the exception rather than the rule this year. In other games, we didnt show up until late in the 2nd quarter or never got going. Sounds like coaching, but also broader culture. Jerry himself said after the Rams game, he simply expected to show up and beat the Eagles. Too bad, but the other team gets paid too.

I think it has to do with motivation and mental preparation . Think about it. These blowout games followed 3 game losing streaks. It’s almost like our locker room needs external motivation to get up and play.

Doug Pederson basically told us that we were going to get our tails whooped and Dallas didn’t like that despite them saying they “don’t care about what Doug Pederson says”

Before the Rams game, not only did the betting line fall, but literally EVERYONE, including fans, were talking trash about them. Maybe that fired them up? I don’t know.

I guess the motivation could fall on coaching, but this team didn’t look mentally prepared in many games this season. In the latter half of the season, Dak looked like he didn’t give a crap. Zeke in the first half wasn’t that great. Defense can’t get turnovers. Doesn’t help that the coaching staff was reportedly fighting throughout the season. Football is a mental game as well, and we almost always fail in that category. Hopefully a new coach can implement a better motivation process/scheme than our current staff does.

MANY SIMILARITIES IN BOTH GAMES . Scored first in both games . Ran more than we passed in both Games Had over 180 yrds rushing and 3 rushing TDs in both games . Won time of possession won Turnover battle converted half 3rd down attempts . HAD PERFECT KICKING FGS and EXTRA POINTS IN BOTH GAMES with different kickers .

Also no phantom penalties 65 yrds in one game and 16 in the other both very manageable

Really pretty simple when you can run for 200yrds in a game dont turn the ball over or get penalized convert on 3rd down and make your kicks while getting the opponent to turn the ball over its kinda hard to lose . Not a lot of coaching necessary

Majority of this season looked like a bunch of guys that got paid and were protecting their bodies and careers knowing the coaching was so poor a championship was an impossibility .

These guys looked like they were protecting themselves till they get a coaching staff that gives them a legitimate shot . Nobody wanted to be on the field in big moments they just wanted this season over so they could get a coach that gives them a chance .

Tackling and Oline push take effort and sacrifice of the body it wasnt there much of the season

Dak , Jeff Heath an Collins didnt get the memo .and still played hard

The team was prepared and showed up to play. Players have work to do as well during the week.

It's called the nfl. Every team does it. Just by the bounce of the ball or cheating are ones successful over another

It looked to me that once the Cowboys got up a couple scores they played with confidence and they began to steam roll. But if the Cowboys got down early, or couldn't get two scores up and then fell behind, they looked less interested in the game. No fight back what so ever.

Dak played hard, but Dak wants a contract.

I wouldn't underrate your point about waiting for a new coach, though. Jerry should've extended him one year. Never let a coach go into his last year (IMO).

If you end up having to fire him, just eat the last year, so what? Jerry was penny wise, pound foolish.

BTW, I would've fired Garrett before this year, I'm just saying, if you want to bring him back, don't put him in the position of being a lame duck coach. You're only screwing yourself. It's what Mickey Mouse organizations and owners do.

Probably when the players stopped listening to their coaches and played to their strengths. Especially on defense.

That's the reason why our coaches ALL need to go. Especially Garrett.

So can a DE.
So can a LB.
So can a decent punter.
So can a Gunner on ST.
So can a half decent blocking TE.
There's a long list...........
QB, is on this long list.
