I'm pretty sure Witten is going to hang it up, so you can all take a deep breath & rest a little easier thru the off-season. Just out of curiosity what is everybody so angry about? It's like a crusade.

my granny has good hands and I think she can take Witten with her hover-round.

I don’t need teaching anything. Just because you’re a good player doesn’t mean you’re a good teacher, coach, or talent evaluator

Any time I'm on a team, I do my darndest to help those around me because it helps my team. That's why it's a team game. Not really hard to understand.

Obviously—you were never paid to compete.

When your job is constantly open for hire, and you are ‘working with’ the people who openly seek to replace you (and take your income) you’ll step out of a high school mindset.

Wrong. Some companies appreciate employees who take that extra step.

You sound like my coach at Tech who wanted me to tutor his nephew (who was trying to take my job......and then possibly my scholarship) on work ethic and how to prepare for games / practice. All of that ‘team mentality’ and being ‘selfless.’ Great.

None of that pays for my school if they de commit from me because I was a conditionally accepted player.

I’m sure it feels good morally from this ‘rah rah’ mentality to say what you do, but it’s just not the reality of athletics for money.

Okay man. You're precisely the kind of guy I know I wouldn't promote and would be looking to replace asap. I practice what I preach and it's appreciated. Obviously you follow a more individual-oriented path and maybe that's okay for you. But you are precisely the kind of guy I know I wouldn't hire.

Wouldn’t hire? Lol, now you are living in play land—just like Jerry Jones. I kept my scholarship because I was the best at the position with all the options available.

The minute I wasn’t the best- I was gone.

JJ let his personal loyalties dictate the ‘type of guy’ he wanted because he is too arrogant and too self unaware to realize a) he doesn’t have the tools it takes to win and b) he certainly can’t win with his blueprint.

You sound the same. I put my performance above all else because it’s all I had. Winning was all I had. I did it on a smaller frame than my competitors and a coach....some dude like you—-wants me to groom ‘one of his boys’ to do what I do and I’m supposed to feel guilty about because some 6’2” dolt doesn’t have the same fire I do? I can’t give that away or teach it.

Nor should I as long as I can better myself by it. You think the dude that takes my spot is ever going to give me anything??? I don’t even remember the name of the kid whose place I took.

coaches? Yea- different story.
Players/- it’s a gladiator life. Look up how Aikman and Walsh got along during that little stint of ‘team togetherness.’

hire me?? Dude- I wouldn’t work for you. You think winning is a matter of a superior moral condition; it isn’t. Many times winners aren’t nice guys. They serve the only result that matters above any self indulged path. They are tireless and focused.

You live in some world where the good guy always wins. Go back to watching marvel movies and video games.

Witten isn't good anymore. Backup-caliber types easily match or better the kind of production he's capable of posting anymore because of how far his ceiling has fallen.

Witten is too slow. I love the guy and he was great but he is too slow to be an effective TE. TE needs to be a priority this draft. Top 3 pick for them. Shultz is a bust and Jarwin can’t block. They need a starter, Jarwin or mix in and a legit blocking TE. Shultz needs to be cut and Witten should retire.
How is Shultz a bust when the coaching staff didn't play him?, he is the best blocking TE we have, will get a chance under MM

He doesn’t play because he isn’t very good. Also how the hell do you know he is the best blocker? The guy got pancaked throughout his rookie year. You must be related.

I read all over this forum about Witten and how he's holding Jarwin back. But to be honest Jarwin is a nice compliment, but shouldnt be nowhere near a starter. He is unusable in the running game. And we know this because Dallas was a strictly inside run team in 2018. Why because the TEs couldnt block the outside.

And it doesnt limit the handicap only to the run game. Theres a reason Dak was sacked at a record pace in 2018 because TEs couldnt help in pass blocking either. It was horrible.

Jarwin is a nice guy to go out and run a seam or a out to the sideline and get forgotten about by the defense because he's not a threat. That would work for the team if he comes in, in situations but if he's a starter then he's not getting them suprise the defense situations.

This team needs a complete TE, theres a reason Dallas wanted Geodert with Witten moving to the booth.

As much as Witten declined with age, Jarwin isnt half the TE Witten is. Jarwin is a guy you bring in, in situations. Not a guy you depend on regularly.

IMO Cole Kmet is just what this team needs. And picking him at 17 would be a great for this team. I see needs on defense but this defense needs veteran leadership. They have plenty of young talent who arent ready to be leaders. The offense is full of vet leaders. With the cap this team has, go and pluck a couple of vets in FA for this defense that are able to lead on the field.

Ignoring the loss of Witten would be a huge mistake as Dak found out in 2018 when im sure plenty of Monday mornings he woke up sore from the beating he took on sunday.
Im all for drafting a TE high in the draft....
