A couple more things from Babe.

he said they have no shot at payton or belichick. He said Urban Meyer is a control freak that would never work here.

He also added that the final three nights his son Luke was alive Jason and his wife Brill were at the hospital to be with the laufenberg family.

I hate JG but I think it is unprofessional to start interviewing coaches when you have not fired your existing coach. This is what Aikman is talking about.

You can fire an incompetent employee and be professional about it. Jerry can't even do this right.

How do you know that? Jerry had a long time close relationship with Garrett, I'm sure that had something to do with why this thing seemed slow developing and had 3 or more meetings. It's been suggested there were talks about offering him a FO position of some sort with the Cowboys. I think Jerry was trying to soften the blow, while still standing by his resolve to find a new HC.
If we knew all the facts WHICH WE DON'T, I suspect Jerry was totally professional about it.

Aside from all that, Jerry gave Garrett way more than enough time to succeed, plus made him a multi millionaire in the process. I don't believe for one minute that Jerry treated Garrett unprofessionally or unfairly.

Nobody said that Garrett wasn't a good friend or good person. Hell, he'd probably be a guy I'd be happy to have a few beers with...but that doesn't mean I'd want him anywhere close to the HC position of the Cowboys.

The reaction from posters only confirms how many A-holes post here. He got fired, being jubilant about it is just poor form and sportsmanship. I'm concerned about the future of my favorite sports team, the Dallas Cowboys. I'm worried that the next HC will be no better hire than Garrett was.
why feel sorry or bad about it when he probably has 40 million in the bank??
I just cant feel bad about someone with 40 million losing their job.
People are happy because it means change, they were sick of the way things were.
Maybe it gets better, or maybe not, at least it will be something different.
As far as making fun of him etc, jason does not read this forum so he will never know, and one little tidbit, I am sure he does not care one iota
about you or any other person here.
He would/did refer to us as "noise" we are insignificant to him, so go ahead and feel bad for him , but dont expect others to.

According to glazer they told him they would no longer need him, and he was out, and they were interviewing other coaches, and he would not leave lol.
So the other meetings were to get him to give up and leave.

LOL..

jerry didn’t even fire him. He basically just announced he wouldn’t be renewing his contract.
it’s like a two week notice.

and Per Glazer, he wouldn’t leave. But Jerry still comes out and says that they aren’t firing him, just not renewing his contract.

Well it's my understanding his contract didn't expire till the 14th of this month. That may well have been a factor and a legal sticking point. Especially if Jerry was saying they just weren't renewing the contract. If we knew all the facts of the case for sure, it would probably make a lot more sense. Jerry probably didn't want to come right out and publicly state that he was firing him simply out of respect for Garrett, hence the milder language of not renewing the contract.

Some Cowboy fans obviously don’t appreciate Jason’s service to the Cowboys.

We haven’t had a Cowboys HC this era more connected to Cowboys history with his fathers connection to Landry era, his playing days in Jimmy era through his coaching tenure.

He handled himself throughout his tenure in a classy manner despite being surrounded by a dysfunctional organization with countless distractions up until the end. I wish Jason all the success in his future endeavors. He’ll always be a Cowboy.

His father cane here in 87. Hardly connected to the Landry era and his sons got here because of his father, meaning nepotism. Jim Garrett left a ‘legacy’ of 0-10 at Columbia, whole bringing his sons there. These guys were part of a dysfunctional organization without Jerry Led by their father. They rode the Jerry train for thirty years,

Cut the SOB story BS.

they are close friends. he sees the jones's behaving like they always do and calls them out on it. I don't see an issue.

There is an issue because everybody familiar with Dallas knows that Garrett family owes Jerry, not the other way around. Jerry kept his father around as a right hand man. It was Jim Garrett that was feeding Drew Henson as the next Aikman and Jim was right along Lacewell. Jerry employed Jim’s sons as players and coaches as well as personnel directors, even though they showed nothing,

Like I said, Troy in these last couple of weeks has become irritating ** and he’s trying to project this as Jerry’s fault to protect his friend and knowing what his position is as all-time Dallas great, while knowing the facts about the Garrett family. That’s not integrity.

Press release.

Of course now we now that the Werder story was legit, had to have been Stephen who leaked it.

But the way Werder presented it was to defend Garrett. Werder basically trashed Moore and said Garrett never got a fair shake to coach for his job.

Mike Doocy interviewed aikman about this and Aikman said he believes Garrett put everything he had into this and doesn't feel that was given back....not sure what he meant by that.

What does Aikman mean that Garrett feels he gave everything to the organization but feels it was not reciprocated?

What the hell Garrett? You were given 10 freaking years and you won jack, Jerry gave you every possible chance in the world and all you did was blow chance after chance after chance. You couldn't even beat Philly's practice squad to win the East, if you would have done that you would still be here.

So how the hell do you have the stones to call out Jerry and say he didnt reciprocate? Trust me, you dam sure aint getting 10 seasons anywhere else.

Babe said a bunch of stuff but most importantly he said Mike McCarthy is perfect for the job and pointed out how he had no say in personnel in GB and would be ok with the arrangement here.

he also pointed out how jerry will never change and playfully mentioned how Jerry has a G5, a Yacht, a helicopter and the most valuable sports franchise in the world so he is not changing.
I just can't envision Jerry saying bye to his adopted son to hire Mike freaking McCarthy. It's got to be a bigger name even if it means Jerry having to sacrifice a bit. Steve Dennis & Tim Cowlishaw have been mentioning all week on their radio show how they've heard from sources that Jerry and especially Stephen are aware of the temperature of the fanbase right now and that they're going to try to "please the fanbase" with this hire.

I would like to think that Steve Dennis and Tim Cowlishaw were onto something here, but if that were the case then why the wait to publicly announce that they were moving in a different direction from Garrett until yesterday? One would think that could have been avoided by just ripping off the bandaid rather than waiting.

The other part that leaves me less than hopeful on the direction going forward was Mike Fisher's earlier report of the offensive staff that they'd like to retain.

The old Parcells quote of “If they want you to cook the dinner, at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries.” keeps coming to mind as something that it looks like the Jones family still hasn't learned yet which makes me slightly more cautious on who our next HC will work and what say they'll actually have on their staff.
