Rodgers was not himself the previous two seasons. He broke a collarbone and played in seven games in 2017 (and really should have not come back that year). Then, he suffered a leg fracture in 2018 and tried to play through it when he really shouldn't have.
And Rodgers was mediocre by his standards this year and still went 13-3 with a rookie coach.

Because the rookie coach quickly figured out what his idiot predecessor never did: Aaron Jones is a STUD who should be carrying the load.

LOL BLEACHER REPORT? really? I wonder what you would score on the wonderlic if Bleacher Report is your source. And I didnt mean idiot as in IQ. I meant idiot as in his own family hates him. Hes a known clown and there is a reason he slid in the draft. His attitude is horrible. Rodgers is the last person I would listen to. Aaron sure likes to throw stones, meanwhile without MM Rodgers wouldnt have developed into who he is today.

Haters don't care about facts. They care about hating.

LOL no, Aaron Jones is the same exact stud he’s been since his rookie year in 2017.

He averaged 5.5 Yds/Rush as a rookie in 2017 AND 5.5 AGAIN in 2018.

Too bad his idiot head coach didn’t realize he should be carrying the load.

His rookie year he didn't even hit 500 yards rushing.

Last year he had 700.

You want to argue mccarthy should have gave him the ball more thats fine, but he was anything but elite his first two years.

This year he has 16 tds and only 1100 yards rushing. 4 tds vs us.

I'm saying even further than that, prior to aaron jones. Even if your right on jones, Who has mccarthy had at the RB position to take the pressure of rodgers before that.Eddie Lacey? lol.

Rodgers won 13 games this year with a rookie coach.

Right after McCarthy went 11-16-1 in his last 2 seasons.
Rodgers started 7 games in 2017. You excluded this from his last 2 seasons.

Green Bay was BAD any time Rodgers went down with injury. It wasn’t just the backup, it was obvious he was carrying the team.

still, guy has a ring and 4 nfccg. Lots and lots of playoff wins. Nothing to sneeze at.

I’ll go on record to say this is a bad hire. Jerry’s only good hire was Jimmy. He didn’t become a billionaire because he’s smart.

Time will tell.

I get that, however, the Packers bottomed out in 2017-2018. Rogers missed half a season to a broken clavicle and last year it just finally fell apart.

Ted Thompson stopped drafting well and McCarthy was never able to tap into free agency because of Thompson.

Ther Packers spent a ton in FA this year on the Smith bros, Adrian Amos, and a very good guard and it was a huge upgrade. Lafleur has benefited from that.

With that said, I think you can ding McCarthy for not utilizing Aaron Jones more in the 2 years he had him.
Rodgers’ injuries, like the 2 broken collarbones he’s suffered, also confirmed for everyone that McCarthy is useless without his stud QB.

There are coaches who find ways to win a bunch of games with their backup QB. Not easy at all, but still doable. McCarthy’s proven that he’s certainly not one of them.

LOL “known idiot”, huh? Rodgers scored a 35 on the Wonderlic.

You ever hear McCarthy give a lengthy interview? He wouldn’t crack a score of 20.

McCarthy was trashed by many other sources as well, not just Rodgers. You should read the Bleacher Report article about their relationship.

Almost every SUCCESSFUL and not so successful coaches falls into that same category of scoring 20.

Have you heard all these coaches talk.

I just can't imagine Mike McCarthy taking a puppet position in Dallas the first week of January when he has so many teams interested in him who have yet to hire anyone.

Doesn't make sense to me. What does make sense is he heard what he needed to hear from Jerry to believe he will have enough authority to make it work.

That is why I consider this a good hire. It changed Jerry to some degree. That was the key in this coaching change and I have every reason to believe it happened.

Exactly. He had interviews with every team needing a coach except the Commanders who jumped on Rivera real quick. He had his pick of jobs, so why would he come here if he did not get the authority he wanted?

Also unless McCarthy is moving away from the WCO (which I seriously doubt) you can't just bring in any coach to run it. Jerry is going to have to trust in McCarthy to bring in proper WCO coaches to implement that scheme.

Out of all of the ex-HC candidates he was probably the most viable. And he hasn't been out of coaching for a long time like a lot of the broadcast booth options (Dungy, Cowher).

Because the rookie coach quickly figured out what his idiot predecessor never did: Aaron Jones is a STUD who should be carrying the load.

LaFleur adjusted the game plan understanding that Rodger is not longer the same player that he once was. This has worked out well for Green Bay because Rodgers isn't being asked to do as much.

Who's to say that McCarthy wasn't trying to make that adjustment as well? There are all kinds of articles out there saying that Rodgers had the authority and often changed plays, which led to a clash between the coach and quarterback. He might have been waving off running plays.

McCarthy chose to go with Ty Montgomery as his starting RB in 2018 and to alternate 3 RBs (Montgomery, Aaron Jones, and Jamal Williams).

It was the Packers GM who forced Mac to utilize Jones more by shipping Montgomery to Baltimore at the trade deadline.

Not a complete change. Just not the same as he's been with Garrett and Wade.

Explain to me why an established Super Bowl winning head coach with multiple teams interested in him would take a powerless puppet position in Dallas a week after the season ends.
Several reasons. Could be simply because of the prestige of the job, as it was with Parcells.

The other teams interested were the Browns and Giants. The Browns are toxic. Choosing between a rebuild effort with New York and a bit of a quicker fix in Dallas would probably be an easy choice.

No matter who the Cowboys hired, there would've been criticism. Unless the guy was Parcells reincarnated, the hire would've been questioned.
Truer words have never been spoken.

I believe Jim Haslett was the guy he had in mind when he was looking for another job. I dont have the link but pretty sure that was who he had been working with prior to getting the job here. I'll take a look for the link

I'm just not a fan of Haslett, and he also has been out oft he league for so very long. I think the new age of offense would eat him alive like a Walking Dead zombie.
I don't prefer guys like that . I really hope it's not him, think we'd struggle under Haslett. That's like goin back to another version McCarthy's struggling days of DC Dom Capers.
