Yeah - this feels like hiring a more pedigreed Chan Gailey...I was expecting a Rams or Niners type of hire, bringing in fresh new mind and brand of leadership, and we get Uncle Mikey...completely underwhelmed.
It already kinda of feels like mcarthy is on the hot seat doesn’t it?

I really dont know what to make of this hire. I do wonder why so few interviews were done.
I did here McCarthy is possibley going to choose Mike Nolan as D coordinator. At least it's not Jerry saying that. Time will tell how this is gonna go. At least Garrett's gone and that's a reason for hope.

I think they’ve thought they were contenders for the better part of the last ten years. Hence why Garrett always being kind of hovering around contender status always suited them. He was gonna get them in the tournament they thought.

so with Mcarthy I think they’re thinking hey we got the roster and he knows how to run a team. Let’s try to catch lightning

Reckless and impulsive hire IMO. We should've at least tried to get Meyer, Riley, or Roman here. At least Riley or Meyer as an OC to prevent a bad NFL "learning curve". McCarthy is an upgrade. But by how much? And is he better than the coaches I listed? Was he really that good to the point where we didn't need to interview anyone else or give another candidate a chance?

Posting privileges should be revoked for people who think Riley or Meyer would take a demotion as an OC.

As long as Moore or Witten aren't the HC in waiting. McCarthy has to have control of this team.

Nah...not knee jerk at all RedX...realistic. The model for success has been cast in recent years (see Niners and Rams)...hire the fresh, innovative, offensive minds to lead the team to the next level. This is a Browns-type decision and unworthy or this franchise or its fanbase. Your second sentence speaks volumes, though. Classic Jerry signing of someone who can't outshine him like Jimmy and Bill did.
I think the promotion of Moore was in answer of your observation of seeking fresh new innovative minds.

But to me..he is a re-mix of Linehan and things got defused in the process.

It appears McCarthy will call the offense now. I think this will work as our team offense is definitely old school and if they go to WC offense..

we will see a big spike from Dak.

But Moore and Kitna are what now?

Support staff? Is that really a need now?

Hmmmm...

All good questions. I guess, for whatever reason, I thought this decision would say something about Jerry. That he would show the urgency to go against his typical MO, as he did with Parcells, to bring someone in here who would be an inspired choice. Someone that transcended mere X’s and O’s who would rally this team to achieve a championship level performance - based on the intangibles he brought to the table. For me, MM ain’t that. I was hoping for a Steve Kerr type of hire, even. Surprise me. But help me believe that this decision takes us from the Mark Jackson Dubs to the Kerr iteration. The FO didn’t do that. They gave us the dude who left Green Bay and they go 13-3 without him.

I'll tell you what an unflashy hire does.. Chan, Dave, Wade, and Jason say high.
Flashy doesn't win football games. Same as having air Jordan's doesn't make you run faster. IMO...M.M. is gonna do wonders for this team. Solid coach with a solid winning history. I'm not so sure any of the college coaches you mentioned will be successful in the NFL for a variety of reasons. I mean Nick Saban couldn't get it done in the league. Why are you so sure any of those guys can be more successful?

Time will tell if this is the correct move, but the media, especially in regards to the Cowboys, will only give the thumbs up on a Sexy pick like Meyers, Riley, etc, etc.......

The truth is none of us know for sure but theres nothing wrong with speculation. I don't get too high or too low till I see the results.....and which teams those results are against
and the media estimated up to 10 coaches could be let go in 2019. Was that 5, including Skins?

I can't get that far for you.

What I will suggest is McCarthy has the career to help this team.

We clearly have had a young team that has clearly not handled adversity well under Garrett.

Mostly becuz Garrett has not dealt with it much. He has always had Jerrah stepping in to deflect negative factors to protect Garrett in his development.

Jerrah finally saw the negative factors in this approach and did not extend him.

Finally.
