It cant be as archaic and bad as what jg ran for years.
you know the offense where every defense knows what we are going to do pre snap.

This team is going to be very different next sept.
The difference is, McCarthy had a HOF qb to bail him out and keep defenses honest, in Green Bay. He doesn't have that luxury with the Cowboys.

Unless our average QB gets more help from his overpaid, underachieving line, you’ll see more of the same.

Coaching wasn’t our problem on offense. It was on defense, so we hired a coach that’s maybe worse than what we had. Jerry moves.
No we had problems in all areas, that i THINK MM and MN will correct.
you cant always judge guys from what they did in past on other teams, they can evolve, get better.
Even JG will be better if he hires on with another team.
Nothing is perfect, I am going to judge after I see one season, JG had 10 years, I can give MM 1 year, if you guys cant then somethings wrong with you.

One Season was without Aaron Rodgers and the next one with Aaron Rodgers with one Knee.

I think 11-16 was pretty good for that.

Garrett was 4-12 without his starting QB.
I think Garrett went 13-3 in 2016 without his starting QB.

All I know is this....Coach mac won a Superbowl with half his team in the infirmary that season limping around on crutches. Pretty sure they were even a wild card team that year playing on the road. Meanwhile.....under the red clapper we cant even win a game against Philly for the right to go to the playoffs while they were playing with a bunch of guys signed right off the street. You bet im excited. One guy accomplished greatness,....the last guy did NOTHING....while having EVERYTHING.

Actually he didn't go without his starting QB.
Dak won the job and was named starter before week 1 and never relinquished the job. Romo came back as QB2.
Dak has been QB1 since the day he took the job.
Cute story though.

We have no choice but to give MM a year to show what he’s got. I hope for the best. But he’d have been way down my list.

Jerry is delusional. He thinks he has the best roster in the NFL and only needs better plays/ideas in order to succeed. He’s wrong of course. The culture is the problem. We need a coach to tear away the entitlement that Jerry propagates. MM isn’t doing that.

This story is completely wrong.

DAK Prescott was the third string QB in training camp. Kellen Moore and Tony Romo both went down with injury’s that year forcing them to play their 3rd string QB in the season opener.

Mike McCarthy was a failure worse than Garrett in his last 2 seasons in Green Bay, causing him to be fired mid-season.

I don't understand the excitement of him being our new HC. Is it just because he studied film and has an analytics team? That might be new for him but it's not new for the Cowboys.

IMO, Mike McCarthy road the coattails of great QBs and it's a huge disappointment that he's now our coach. I hope he doesn't have much to do with our offense because without Rogers here to make him look good it's going to be ugly if we use his offense.

This is an interesting read...some really crappy play designs and standard/boring play designs:

Yes and what he did after that is very impressive. Even though he wasn’t coaching, he completely reinvented himself....this is what made me really intrigued. He took that firing to heart and changed.

Some people didn't like the hire so they're going to complain. I'm frankly tired of complaining. This might not work out but it's a lot better than what we've had.

The difference is Dak proved to be starter worthy and was awarded the job even after Romo came back. Brett Hundley just sucked.

Yes. Cherry pick a guy's worst seasons.

e.g., Would would want a guy who went 36-44 over five seasons?

e.g., 12-20 over his past two years? This guy should be put out to pasture!

e.g., Three straight 7-9 seasons with a first ballot HOF QB? Time to move on!

Who are those guys that I'm talking about?

Bill Belichick, Andy Reid, and Sean Payton.

McCarthy was 29-30-1 over his last 60 games with the Packers.

Better hope he did some real analytics learnin' during that year off because he was burned out and not very good his last several years in GB.

I agree. I find it funny that it is claimed how McCarthy rode Rodgers coat tails, but the same could be said about Payton riding the coat tails of Brees. Payton has 1 SB that was a while back and yet with one of the best QB in the game.

Agree with every single word and salute you for posting it.

Your third paragraph is the clincher. It's as though people here think the current QB can do the same things as McCarthy's previous QB.

Will truly be fascinating to watch how this coach handles the current QB's basic fundamental deficiencies/flaws and how politically correct he is on presenting them on post game pressers at the podium. Get ya popcorn ready, lol!

I am intrigued as well but it's just blind faith to believe his crappy offensive schemes are suddenly going to improve without A-Rod to bail him out time after time. When I think of the Cowboys losing important games to the Packers I think about their QB not McCarthy.

I don’t care what he did with a organization that didn’t want to invest in defense. Seems like the only thing they’ve invested in was quarterback and wide receivers.

And yeah Garrett doesn’t have a low floor. His floor is 7-9 or 8-8. His ceiling was probably also the same thing. He wasn’t winning games because of his coaching. Just getting by based on talent then when it came to playing a close game we’d lose this year.
