Of course McCarthy doesn't guarantee a Super Bowl win, but who would? There are pros and cons with him, which can be found in the fact he has a strong record, but was available to be hired. But, of course, there would be pros and cons with any coach we could have hired. There are no Bill Belichicks that were available. But McCarthy has won a Super Bowl and has the strong record as a head coach, so why not give it a chance? Some here are, but some are in a hurry to call it a horrible choice. Ultimately, there truly are positives and negatives, and we don't know how it will play out - and there really is no benefit to making a definitive decision now. It's just a reason to convince ourselves to be pissed off without even having the evidence to know if it is warranted.

Same with Nolan. A good DC background, but not a slam dunk sure thing - but who of all available choices would be? It could work out very well or not so much - Nolan's defenses have been on both ends of the spectrum. So why the rush to declare it one or the other right now?

To clarify, I'm not saying pros and cons shouldn't be discussed. It's what we do here, and is a legitimate thing to do. But being angry and predetermining an outcome at this point reduces the discussion to the point reason is replaced with soap opera.

I suspect those that are have the hardest time with this hire are those that had themselves talked into the notion that JJ was going to make this huge headline grabbing splash hire.

McCarthy wasn’t my first choice but the hire is growing on me. Maybe it’s just because Garrett is finally gone and I actually feel like there is finally hope.

The one thing that really impressed me is how he used his time away from the game to study and learn and improve his craft. I’m really excited to see how this offense evolves and how Dak grows into it. Good times ahead boys and girls!

What other choice does anyone really have?

Sure, you can moan and complain about this, that, whatever, but that is not going to change the coaching staff for the 2020 season.

This does not mean Dallas is guaranteed to win a Super Bowl, but we could have hired Bill Belicheat (or anyone) and it would not guaranteed a Super Bowl either.

For the first time in nearly a decade, I am excited for the upcoming season. It may not be a total success, but at least it is DIFFERENT than the same old "just beat the man in front of you" crap Garrett rolled out there year-after-year.

If we keep Moore and Kitna I'm good with McCarthy. Dak grew well with those two and I don't want that to stop.

Nolan is a **** hire and will be gone before the season is out.

I am not convinced there are no cons with Belichick too. But at this point its moot. McCarthy is the guy and while this does not bowl me over, I am liking very much what Packers player who played under McCarthy are saying. I am hearing things like he gets the most out of his players and they will play hard for him. They also say he will be good for Dak. These are quality endorsements coming from people who know him and how he coaches.

I am not expecting miracles. Jerry is still the GM and is still going to stick his nose in everything, as he would with Belichick and anyone else he hired. But I do hope the Cowboys will play with a more consistent attitude, preparation, and a determination to win.

If McCarthy is indeed hiring his own staff, as it seems so, that's promising by itself and it makes me excited for the new season.

Macarthy will pay attention to the details. The guy is a better coach than the red menace.

3 years.

That's it. Deliver more than Garrett did. Pretty simple.

I think McCarthy deserves a chance to prove himself. Yes I would say that about any coach we hired, I just think having the fan base supporting you at the start is better than dealing with the distraction of the fan base being opposed. Like many Urban Meyers was a guy I would have liked but to be honest Meyers health issue and the reason he left OSU was a concern. There is a lot of stress in this job and one has to wonder if Meyers could physically hold up under this stress?
