I am amazed that Nick Wright has a job. What a douchebag. No credibility, trying to get "sound bites and clickbait. Almost as bad as Skip and/or SAS.
I love me some Chris Carter, Jenning and Jenna Wolfe.

I agree with Greg Jennings for the most part. I also think that McCarthy is going to be stronger willed than he was at the Packers. I think that Mike will light a fire and set the tone.

Mixed bag imo - yes he will be better at Xs and Os but how he deals with players - or doesn't - has me concerned.

Jennings seems to be saying that MM isn't like a Garrett that will praise them, but he also doesnt seem to be a Jimmy/Bill type to get in players face...

Speaking of his take on Payton:

I like Payton, but what's the difference in his loss at home last week and Garrett's failures? The Saints window of opportunity is closing so we're about to see how good Payton really is. Brees is like his Brady. Yes, their backup can win some games but there's going to be a huge drop off when he takes over full-time...

It’s definitely a fine line these days. Not all players react the same to certain kinds of coaches. Obviously being buddy buddy like JG didn’t work out well but some of the young players nowadays don’t respond well to people getting in their face.

McCarthy seems like a good balance of both but that we’ll see soon.

Well not literally getting in players face or cursing up a storm but Jimmy and Bill knew how to push buttons - players perked up and wouldn't want to be on the bad side of either one, aka players feared them.

With MM - I dont think thats the case, just my opinion but he doesn't have that "presence"

Its like I saw on one of these shows - Canty said something to the effect - "coaching in NFL is about getting grown men to do things they dont want to do, in order to make them better."

An example of this would be Parcells getting on Witten about his blocking so he'll become a complete TE or pushing Ware on playing the run.

You are sayiong what I have been saying forever. Coaches are either blessed to have great qb play(if they do they win and look great) or cursed to have crap and they are avg Joes.

How did Saban do in the NFL? How did Jimmy do after leaving Dallas?

I think the difference in a great coach is sort f like what mike tomlin did this year. To even have that team competitive was impressive.

Thats why I like mccarthy. Brings instant credibility

Pretty much. Coaching can elevate some like we saw Bill do in 2003.

A coaches greatest asset is assembling elite talent. Without it it’s difficult to overcome at a high level as you are referring to.

If we truly believe we have enough talent to contend as Jerry, analysts, fans and media have asserted then Mike should be enough to take us to next level assuming all of these people are right about the talent.

Any why my expectations are very high based on all of this. I see no reason given their hype between our talent and coaching staff now that anything less than a Super Bowl would be a disappointment.

Tomlinson did a good job, but fans don’t realize how much talent is on their defense. Their defense kept them in every game after Fat Ben went down. They have 3 first team All Pros on their D, and very likely the defensive MVP, TJ Watt, remember him.

Go back to the last playoff game for the Saints and check Payton's play calling at the end. He lost that game, not the refs.

He's got that smug "I'm smarter than you" look on his face and what has he really accomplished with that talent?

The difference is, and it's a big one, Payton got it done and has been deep in the playoffs multiple times. He is the kind of coach that if you start the season with what you think is a talented roster, you have confidence that he can get you to a superbowl right up until you are knocked out. Garrett, on the other hand, never got it done and is the kind of coach that no matter how talented you think the team is, you have no confidence he will get you to a superbowl. I've said many times, you could give him the NFC pro bowl roster for a season and he still wouldn't win a super bowl. That's the difference. No coach can win it all every year, but good ones get you deep every year if they have any kind of talent and you always feel like you have a chance with a good coach.
