I’m trying to be optimistic about McCarthy too. I still think it’s a terrible hire but I’ll be thrilled to say I was wrong.

But no, I can’t get behind McCarthy being the reason Rodgers became a monster.

Rodgers reportedly hated McCarthy’s system and says McCarthy has the lowest football IQ of any coach he’s ever had.

Although some of that may be true, Rodgers held a grudge with MM since 05. So his opinion of MM was a bit biased before he even came to GB.

Look at it this way. Tony Romo went from UDFA to stud when Jason Garrett was his OC, and Dak now looks a lot better in year 4 than he did in year 1 with Jason Garrett as his head coach. Does that mean that JG is a QB guru?

I think Garrett deserves some credit for developing Dak, along with Kitna, Moore and Linehan. Romo he inherited although he improved in Garrett's tenure.

If McCarthy is such a genius QB coach, how come Rodgers backup didn't excel when Rodgers was injured?

Also, I really have a hard time believing that a brand new NFL HC had the time to coach up his HOF starting QB and also coach up the backup. Usually it's the QB coach and OC that do that...

It would be awesome if McCarthy is as good as some wish but I think he's more likely to continue to underperform like he did during his last years with GB.
He did. Flynn was absolutely amazing.

The current talking point from contrarians right now is that McCarthy road the coattails of Rodgers. Let's forget the fact that he revived Favre's dying career and gave him a second wind, and go straight to Rodgers. Rodgers was a first round talent that almost slipped to the second round due to some mechanics and attitude issues. Not only did McCarthy keep Rodgers ego in check for nearly a decade, he pretty much rebuilt Rodgers into the QB he is today. Check out Rodgers' rookie preseason highlights, this is not franchise level QB stuff and you can see why he slipped. Held the ball too high, slow release, even some bad footwork.

At the very least, what you'll get from McCarthy is that he'll get the best out of Dak Prescott. You can bet on this. However Prescott plays under McCarthy will be his ceiling. If you're a huge Dak fan, the #1 priority right now would be getting Prescott to become a franchise QB and we brought in the best coach on the market for this.

Back in the last few years of Farve, I was posting frequently at a general NFL with alot of cheeseheads. Alot of them were very Anti Rodgers and referred to him as a Tedford guy, and pointed out bad Tedford QB's were in the NFL.

Here is a list of Jeff Tedfords QB's:

Trent Dilfer
Akili Smith
David Carr
Joey Harrington
Kyle Boller
Aaron Rodgers

The fact about 20 other players and coaches have disputed that means nothing apparently. I mean, what do Favre and Montana know? Or Gannon? Or James Jones?

Disputed what? Another man’s opinion?

Take it up with Rodgers, not me.

Stop posting stupid crap and think.

Rodgers didn't just look bad, his mechanics were an absolute mess and part of the reason he slipped in the draft. Actually, mechanics for QBs is incredibly tough to drastically change at the NFL level, you're talking about stuff embedded in players from high school football. And no one claimed this was the first time, again, stop posting stupid crap out of contrarian takes. It's not smart, it's just trying to be different.

Maybe we should look at what he did for Favre? Or how about Rich Gannon?

And none of this matters? What the hell are you talking about? LOL a coaches resume matters, it's exactly why they get hired and how you base initial judgement....which is where we are at right now.

thanx for posting thud

I’m getting excited about this hire
