Would you be for or against Witten getting a spot on this staff?

I am a huge fan of Witten the player but also feel as if we heldon

I couldn't agree more.

Don't get me wrong, I truly appreciated everything that Witten brought to this team and he was one of the good ones.

With that being said it's time to turn the page on that story and move on from Witten completely.

As an aside, you are one handsome man.

You've all turned on Witten. This may be my proudest moment.

I turned on him about 3-4 years ago when he would catch a pass on his “patented” option route and fall down from a shoestring as well. I’m a what have you done for me lately kind of fan. I’m sorry.

Not anything above a TE coach, but sure. Somehow I think he is about 50% to return next year in a uniform and certainly hope that doesn't happen.

I am against it but not because if he can coach or not. No one should be handed a first-time coaching job in the NFL at any position/coordinator. Coaches need to learn that craft at lower levels and work their way up IMO. Playing is not the same as teaching........

Witten will be a part of this franchise one way or another. I think he’ll play one more year, then join the staff in an assistant capacity.

100% off board with him being on the staff sadly. Not that he would not be good but because we need new people here with new ideology.

no, we need no Garrett guys on this team, move alone sloth. I know it will take a while for you to move. heck, you will probably fall down a couple of times getting out the door.
I wonder if when he goes grocery shopping he falls everywhere in the store. Heck, that would make a great commercial, like the icky shuffle. now the Witten fall. life alert would be a great job for him. " I've fallen and can't get up"

That is a big no for me. Now I would be OK if he returned to Knoxville

Doesn't anyone just gracefully ride off into the sunset after a great career as a player and go do something else anymore?

Jason Witten IS NOT a coach.

It's like a bad TV commercial. "I'm not a coach. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night."

I'm sorry his TV gig didn't work out. But enough is enough. If he wants to stay involved, carve out a spot for him on Charlette Jones' staff promoting the brand. I always see life size cutouts of him hocking Miller Lite. That seems to work well. Go do something like that.

Wouldn’t mind if his spot on the staff was the ASSISTANT to the ASSISTANT to the TE coach himself.

if he wants in fine... but let him cut his teeth a bit.

Moore was a special case as he always seemed destined to coaching and everyone around him got that from him. Witten I think can be a good coach but I don’t think it’s natural for him.

If JG gets an OC job I hope Witten can be TEs coach under him. Let him get his coaching feet wet in an environment where he isn't coddled by the owner.

If he proves he can coach and moves up the ranks, maybe a return to Dallas will be in order down the road.

We need to be able to let go, Witten is a Cowboys legend but why the need to handcuff the new head coach with coaching personnel he wouldn't consider in first place?

If McCarthy and Moore sign off on it, I'm good.

If they don't, I'm not.

I can get behind this as well. There's no way to know if a player will turn out to be a good coach or good commentator till they try, but at least dont elevate them too fast. In the past ex players started out and earned their advancement through achievement from the bottom, not at the top like Garrett and Moore

Everyone likes Witten, considered an all-time great Cowboy. He would actually be better in a PR role.

He could barely do his job...Hell his blocking has been atrocious for years....yet Garrett let it slide. Last thing I want to see is a guy that couldn't do his job..try and tell Kellen how to do his. Witten has been part of the problem.
You are obviously too emotional to talk rationally about Witten. When other teammates on the Cowboys talk about Witten they say he is like having a coach on the field. He knows the playbook inside and out and knows every route of every receiver on every play. Gallup said Witten helped him several times presnap to get in the right place with the right route in mind. Witten must have kicked your dog because the way you talk about the man is just completely irrational. Go see a mental health professional about whatever issue you have with Witten because it is just crazy talk.

Everyone saw what went on with Wade and Garrett. No coach is going to want to bring on a former player that Jerry could be wanting to put in there. New rule for Cowboys coaches should be you can’t be HC unless you’ve been a highly successful College HC for at least 4 years or had 6+ years coaching in the NFL. Kellen was even promoted to OC way too fast. He should have had to go to UW first before coming here.
That's just more crazy talk from you. Wait and see, Witten will be a coach in the NFL. I understand there is no convincing you of this until it actually happens so just wait and see.

I'm going to send this link to the Star so hopefully Witten can see how much we hate him.

I think Witten would be a GREAT coach in the NFL. However him being here only makes Jerry think he has his 20 year answer and would likely move things around to elevate him before he’s ready and cause more infighting and distrust.

Stop trying to find the hidden gem and just be happy with what you’ve got now. McCarthy can be the coach for 5-8 years, retire and then see what’s available.
